Gordon didn't join the team in Denver against the Avalanche, but the though was that he could be available for Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks. That's not the case, however, as he'll once again sit out for Tuesday's contest, making his next chance to play Thursday against the Jets.

Gordon is not with the team in Denver, but considering they return home for a tilt against the Blackhawks on Tuesday, it's quite possible he'll rejoin the lineup then. Coach Dave Tippett indicated that he doesn't anticipate the team making any call-ups, further implicating that either Gordon, fellow injured teammate Martin Hanzal or both will be available Tuesday.

Gordon (back) was traded to the Coyotes on Tuesday in exchange for forward Lauri Korpikoski. Gordon annually ranks as one of the best performers in the faceoff circle, as illustrated by his 55.9 percent winning rate in 2014-15. However, that's about where his fantasy value begins and ends, as he's never been a big scorer or hitter, even by the standards of a fourth-line player. Additionally, his plus/minus rating remained a regular risk during his tenure with a bad Oilers team, and that figures to remain the case in 2015-16 with the Coyotes projected to be one of the league's worst units.

Gordon (back) is likely out for the remainder of the season, Jonathan Willis of the Edmonton Journal reports. Gordon remains bothered by the back issue and will miss an eighth consecutive game Thursday against the Sharks. Since Gordon failed to resume practicing as of Wednesday, the club will probably opt to shut him down in an effort to get him healthy heading into the 2015-16 campaign, which will be a contract year.

Gordon appeared on the cusp of returning to the lineup in late March after he was cleared to travel on the Oilers' road trip, but it appears he's been slow to progress since that time. It isn't clear if Gordon will be able to play in the first game of the Oilers' road trip on Monday against Colorado. However, the fact that he's travelling with the team is certainly encouraging. The Oilers should provide an update on his status prior to Monday's matchup with the Avalanche.

Gordon (back) will not play Friday against the Stars. Though the Oilers will miss Gordon's skills in the faceoff circle, the center's absence will cause considerably fewer ripples in the fantasy realm. Gordon has tallied only 13 points in 68 games this season while primarily skating on the Oilers' fourth line.
