Boyd Gordon is projected to help Edmonton's penalty kill. The Oilers finished ninth in the league last year, with an 83.4 percent efficiency rating, after they concluded the 2011-12 campaign 14th overall. Gordon is excellent on faceoffs, which should prove to be very beneficial.

Boyd Gordon is very happy that he is now a member of the Edmonton Oilers. Gordon's responsibilities will be as a third or fourth center and that suits him just fine as the Oilers have a lot of firepower to play on their top two lines. "I can play those hard minutes," Gordon said. "With the amount of skill this team has, I can bring a little different dimension with the way I play but I think I'll fit in very well here. I am excited to get going." Gordon had four goals and 14 points in 48 games last season so look for the center to get 7-10 goals and 15-20 assists in 2013-14.

The departure of Boyd Gordon is not causing Phoenix Coyotes management to lose sleep. "I like our center now," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said. "Obviously we lose a Boyd Gordon, but we signed Kyle Chipchura. He'll fill a role. We're still looking. I feel we could still use a scoring winger. I think that's more our focus right now, but I like where we're at. We still have all our options in regards to our current players, and I like the look of our draft picks. So we have different things we can do moving forward. It may be training camp before you see the next move." Chipchura has rotated between the wing and center during his time with the Coyotes and while he isn't as proficient at faceoffs or shot blocking as Gordon, he could be a strong fourth-line center. It's more likely the Coyotes overcome Gordon's loss by committee, especially on the penalty kill where Gordon's value was at its peak. He'll have the same responsibilities for the Oilers for the foreseeable future after signing a three-year, $9 million deal with Edmonton.

Boyd Gordon has signed a three year contract with the Edmonton Oilers. Financial terms have not been released. Gordon is an excellent bottom six forward who will not give you fantasy stats but is good on the draw and will chip in with a few points as he had four goals and 14 points in 48 games last season with Phoenix.

Phoenix Coyotes brass met with Boyd Gordon in Vancouver last week, according to beat writer Sarah McLellan. The Coyotes haven't yet talked to Gordon's agent, which is the next step before free agency opens July 5. Although he's not much of a fantasy presence, Gordon is excellent on faceoffs and a key piece of Phoenix's bottom-six forwards. Gordon is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent.

Boyd Gordon is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 5. The bottom-six forward is not much of a fantasy player in standard pools as he had four goals and 14 points in 48 games with eight penalty minutes but is very good at the face off dot finishing 15th in the NHL (250 or more draws) at 57.4 percent after finishing eighth in 2011-12. The Coyotes would like to re-sign him but with ownership still a problem, it remains to seen what will happen with the Coyotes.

Boyd Gordon has yet to score this season. Gordon is one of three NHLers who have played at least 28 games not to have scored, joining Tanner Glass and Jeff Halpern. Just an FYI since any of the three should not be on your fantasy team.
