Rivers is talking with the Colts, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
This has been a steady rumor throughout the offseason, with the Colts hoping to upgrade on Jacoby Brissett but not necessarily desperate to do so, i.e., they'll only sign a veteran QB if the price is right. Rivers has history with Colts head coach Frank Reich and offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni, both of whom worked for the Chargers for multiple seasons.

Rivers will become an unrestricted free agent in March and will not re-sign with the Chargers.
EDGE Analysis
The Chargers announced the decision in a press release, suggesting both parties agreed to go their separate ways. Rivers showed obvious signs of decline in 2019, but he should draw interest as a starter on the open market, with potential destinations including Tampa Bay, Indianapolis and Chicago. The 38-year-old quarterback spent 16 years with the Chargers, including 14 consecutive seasons in which he started all 16 games. The team has Tyrod Taylor and Easton Stick under contract at quarterback for 2020, with the potential to add a young signal-caller in the upcoming draft.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports believes the Chargers have "moved on" from Rivers, per independent reporter Dov Kleiman.
EDGE Analysis
The 38-year-old quarterback is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on the heels of a 5-11 season in which he tossed 20 interceptions. The Chargers otherwise have a fairly young roster that includes some premium talent, and they even have an insurance plan with fellow quarterback Tyrod Taylor under contract through 2020. Perhaps sensing the writing on the wall, Rivers recently relocated his family from San Diego to Florida. He already said he doesn't intend to retire, so the move might be taken as a hint that he hopes to play for a team on the East Coast.

Rivers, who had been living in San Diego, has relocated "permanently" to Florida in order to be closer to his family, Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter of ESPN report. "What this means football-wise is to be determined but it was time for us to move back closer to home," said Rivers, who is slated to become a free agent this offseason.
EDGE Analysis
While there's a very real possibility that the 38-year-old has played his last game for the Chargers, Rivers -- who was backed up by Tyrod Taylor this past season -- does plan to play somewhere in 2020.

Rivers completed 31 of 46 passes for 281 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions during Sunday's 31-21 loss to Kansas City. He added a five-yard run. After the game, Rivers said that he has no plans to retire, but he may play with another team in 2020, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Chargers were down by two scores in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter when Rivers hooked up with Hunter Henry for an eight-yard touchdown pass to try to spark a rally. Expect plenty of conjecture in the coming months as to whether that will be Rivers' last touchdown as a Charger. If so, it was a rough season to close out his tenure for the veteran quarterback. He threw 20 picks for the third time in his career while his 23 touchdowns were his fewest since 2007, his second season as starter. As a team, the Chargers finished 5-11, tied for their second-worst finish since Rivers took over as a starter in 2006.

Rivers (right thumb) practiced fully Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The team listed Rivers as limited on Wednesday's practice report, but the veteran QB is now in line to start Sunday's season finale for the 5-10 Chargers. Meanwhile, ESPN's Eric D. Williams notes that Rivers -- who's in the final year of his contract -- is inclined to continue playing in 2020, but the 38-year-old signal caller plans to take some time after the season to discuss that possibility with both his family and the folks who run the Chargers.

Rivers (right thumb) was listed as limited on Wednesday's practice/injury report.
EDGE Analysis
We'll circle back on Rivers' status Thursday, but so far there's nothing to suggest that the veteran QB's availability for Sunday's game against the Chiefs is in any danger.

Rivers reiterated Monday he'd like to play next season, Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com reports. "I'm capable enough physically and mentally, there's no question."
EDGE Analysis
Rivers may want to suit up for his 17th professional season, but it's unclear if the Chargers will bring back the 38-year-old, particularly after a downtrodden year which will see Rivers likely post the worst TD:INT (21:18) of his career. Veteran option Tyrod Taylor and 2019 fifth-round pick Easton Stick have both been on the 53-man roster all season, but neither immediately stick out as long-term answers at the position. With a current 5-10 record, the team could also be in a position to acquire a quarterback of the future in the upcoming draft, but that wouldn't rule out a possible departure from the mainstay veteran either, as Rivers ultimately could usher in the new era of Chargers quarterbacks as the team transitions to their new stadium in 2020.

Rivers completed 27 of 39 attempts for 279 yards in the 24-17 loss Sunday to the Raiders.
EDGE Analysis
For the first time in Rivers' 16-year career, the veteran posted three consecutive three-and-outs to begin the game, foreshadowing what was inevitably going to be a downtrodden afternoon. He did ultimately throw for at least 270 yards for the 11th time this season, but two one-yard touchdown runs from Melvin Gordon evaporated any sort of positive fantasy performance for Rivers. He also injured his throwing-hand thumb after comically whiffing on an end-around block in the first half, but the 38-year-old ultimately played with a wrap the rest of the game, never missing time. It remains to be seen if the Chargers will opt to start a different quarterback for the team's final contest of 2019 considering Rivers' less than sterling 9:11 TD:INT ratio in the past five games, although the reports of a possible benching have simmered down significantly since a dismal four-interception loss to the Chiefs in November.

Rivers completed 28 of 39 pass attempts for 307 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions Sunday against the Vikings. He also lost a fumble.
EDGE Analysis
Rivers threw an interception in the second quarter before losing a fumble -- which was returned for a touchdown -- on the very next drive. He also threw interceptions in his final two possessions of the game as his team suffered one of its worst defeats in recent memory. Rivers is among the league leaders in passing yards, but his 21:18 TD:INT leaves a lot to be desired. The veteran was coming off an excellent performance in his previous outing and will look to bounce back next Sunday against the Raiders.
