Colts head coach Frank Reich said Monday that Rivers will remain the team's starting quarterback, Mike Wells of ESPN.com reports. "No consideration of [replacing Rivers with backup Jacoby Brissett]," Reich said. "Philip is our quarterback."
EDGE Analysis
Rivers' job security was called into question after he turned in a dismal outing in Sunday's 32-23 loss to the Browns, as the 38-year-old completed 21 of 33 attempts for 243 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Rivers was also penalized for intentional grounding in the end zone, resulting in a safety. Though he already has a pair of two-interception games under his belt this season, Rivers has at least fared well in terms of passing efficiency, completing a career-high 70.8 percent of his throws for a respectable 8.0 yards per attempt. While he'll still likely need to rein in the turnovers to ensure he maintains his spot atop the depth chart all season, Rivers' track record and $25 million salary should give him a decent amount of leash.

Rivers completed 21 of 33 pass attempts for 243 yards and two interceptions during Sunday's 32-23 loss to the Browns.
EDGE Analysis
Rivers threw a pick-six on the first drive of the third quarter and later added another interception as his team looked to cut the lead to two in the fourth. It was the poorest performance of the season for Rivers, who had led his team to three straight wins while committing just one turnover in that stretch. Rivers notably displayed an improved connection with T.Y. Hilton in this one and will look to bounce back in a more favorable matchup next Sunday against the Bengals.

Rivers completed 16 of 29 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Week 4 against Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
The Colts played from ahead for the majority of the contest, meaning Rivers and the passing attack didn't need to be aggressive. Rivers' touchdown came on the team's first offensive possession, when he connected with Mo Alie-Cox for a 13-yard score. From there, Rivers orchestrated four drives that ended with field goals and no more trips to the end zone. One positive is that Rivers has taken care of the ball, throwing zero interceptions in the past two weeks. He should be in for a positive matchup in Week 5 when the Colts take on the Browns.

Rivers completed 17 of 21 passes for 217 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-7 win over the Jets.
EDGE Analysis
With the Colts' defense accounting for 14 points on its own thanks to two pick-sixes and a safety, Rivers wasn't called on to do too much after finding Mo Alie-Cox for a TD in the second quarter. Still, his production was enough to move him up the all-time rankings in a number of categories: he's the sixth QB in league history with 400 touchdown passes, the sixth with over 60,000 passing yards, and he passed Dan Marino for fifth in career completions, needing only 20 more to reach 5,000. Rivers should face a much tougher test in Week 4 on the road against a Bears defense that just shut Matt Ryan down in the second half of their comeback win in Atlanta.

Rivers completed 19 of 25 pass attempts for 214 yards, one touchdown and one interception during Sunday's 28-11 win over the Vikings.
EDGE Analysis
Although Rivers managed a respectable average of 8.6 yards per attempt against a vulnerable Vikings secondary, he finished with just 25 attempts as the Colts relied on the running game to control the win. He threw a short touchdown pass to Zach Pascal to add a slight boost to his fantasy production, but he still finished with lackluster numbers overall and now has a 2:3 TD:INT through two games. Rivers will enjoy a favorable matchup next Sunday against the Jets and will look to jumpstart his season after mixed results in the early going.

Rivers completed 36 of 46 passes for 363 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Week 1 against the Jaguars.
EDGE Analysis
Rivers racked up yards and attempts as the Colts attempted to make a comeback. His lone touchdown pass came in the second quarter on an eight-yard pass to Nyheim Hines. However, he also threw two interceptions, including one late in the fourth quarter that was a major blow to the team's rally. Rivers will look to bounce back in the Colts' Week 2 matchup against the Vikings.

Rivers was 19-of-28 passing in Monday's scrimmage at Lucas Oil Stadium. He targeted T.Y. Hilton for five receptions and has been frequently targeting running backs and tight ends in the passing game, Kevin Bowen of 93.5 FM The Fan Indianapolis reports.
EDGE Analysis
While it's hard to read too much into a scrimmage, reports on Rivers in training camp have been positive so far. He appears to be building a rapport with Hilton, though he didn't particuarly target any other receivers in Monday's scrimmage. Rivers has been seen throwing a high percentage of his passes on shorter routes to running backs and tight ends, which could be a sign of a focus on taking what the defense gives him after his turnover issues last season (20 interceptions).

Coach Frank Reich is optimistic Rivers will play more than one season for the Colts, George Bremer of The Anderson Herald Bulletin reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rivers had one of his worst seasons in 2019 and then signed a one-year, $25 million contract with Indianapolis. While both factors may hint at a short relationship, it sounds like the Colts will try to keep Rivers around if he rebounds in his age-38 season ahead. Already boasting an elite offensive line, the team added USC wideout Michael Pittman and Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor in the second round of last month's draft. A better running game than the one he had in Los Angeles could provide Rivers with more red-zone chances, but it also means he's unlikely to approach his 2019 total of 591 pass attempts.

Coach Frank Reich believes Rivers will know "80-to-85 percent" of the Colts' offense before he even walks in the door, Zak Keefer of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reich points to the 38-year-old's experience and intelligence as clear assets, even mentioning that he came to prefer Rivers over Tom Brady after watching tape of both veteran quarterbacks. There's also an element of familiarity, as Reich was the Chargers' offensive coordinator in 2014 and 2015 -- a two-year stretch in which Rivers averaged 4,539 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and 15.5 interceptions while completing 66.3 percent of his throws for 7.4 YPA. Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni was the QBs coach for those teams, and he spent two more years with the Chargers after Reich left for Philadelphia in 2016.

Rivers and the Colts have reached an agreement on a one-year deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Rivers is slated to earn roughly $25 million in 2020. With that, the 38-year-old will take over the Colts' starting QB job from Jacoby Brissett. Rivers is coming off a 2019 campaign in which he threw for 4,615 yards with 23 TDs and 20 picks in 16 games for the Chargers.
