Leshoure is slated to visit the Colts later this week, the Detroit Free Press reports. Leshoure, who was waived by the Lions on Saturday, carries some name recognition, but if he did end up signing with the Colts, he'd still need to work his way up the team's RB depth chart, which is currently headed by Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Leshoure will be waived by the Lions, the Detroit Free Press reports. The 2011 second-rounder was supplanted as the Lions' No. 3 back (behind Reggie Bush and Joique Bell) by Theo Riddick, whose cause was helped by his ability to contribute on special teams. Leshoure figures to catch on elsewhere in the coming days, though he'll have much to prove before re-emerging on the fantasy radar.

Leshoure carried eight carries for 44 yards in Friday's preseason win, but did have a fumble in Jacksonville territory late in the game. Such major blunder given time and situation won't reflect well on Leshoure, who is trying to win a roster spot. His competition, George Winn, carried seven times for 13 yards and a touchdown. He didn't have a rush over four yards.

Leshoure is likely competing with George Winn for a roster spot, ESPN's Michael Rothstein reports. Leshoure said a few months ago that he expects to have a bigger role in the offense this season. However, 2013 sixth-round pick Theo Riddick seems to have emerged as the favorite for the No. 3 spot on the depth chart, leaving Leshoure to duke things out with George Winn. It may be that Leshoure still has a shot to work as the No. 3 running back, but his prospects for this season aren't particularly encouraging.

Mike Leshoure reported to training camp at 242 pounds. Leshoure played at 227 two seasons ago when he led the Lions in rushing, and was at 233 last year. He's always been a big back, but 242 is awfully heavy. Considering Leshoure was never overly explosive to begin with, the weight gain isn't a positive in our eyes. The Lions don't seem concerned. Coach Jim Caldwell believes Leshoure is in "very good shape." Leshoure's ticketed for No. 4 duties.

MLive.com doesn't envision Mikel Leshoure "having any role" on offense for the Lions this season "unless there's an injury." Reggie Bush, Joique Bell, and Theo Reddick are leaps and bounds ahead of Leshoure on the depth chart. The Lions have been saying Leshoure isn't being viewed as an afterthought, but we're not taking the bait. He's entering the final year of his rookie contract, and will likely ride the bench for much of it before entering free agency next spring. Leshoure just turned 24 in March.

Mikel Leshoure enters camp "seemingly entrenched" as the Lions' No. 4 tailback, behind Reggie Bush, Joique Bell, and Theo Riddick. Leshoure is a between-the-tackles grinder, whereas Bush, Bell, and Riddick can theoretically all function on all three downs. Leshoure, 24, could be floated as trade bait as the season draws closer. He's on the roster bubble.

Lions RB Mikel Leshoure expects to be more involved in the Lions' offense this season. That is not a high hurdle to jump considering Leshoure only saw two carries last season, but it is notable because new Lions OC Joe Lombardi comes from a Saints team that routinely utilized three running backs. If he can beat out second-year back Theo Riddick, Leshoure could see 75 to 100 carries in a Chris Ivory-like role. Even with an increased role, Leshoure would need an injury to Joique Bell or Reggie Bush to have fantasy value.

Lions RB Mikel Leshoure has seen more offseason reps with Joique Bell battling a lingering knee injury. Bell missed the offseason conditioning program and early OTAs, allowing Leshoure to fully familiarize himself with new OC Joe Lombardi's offense. Lombardi hails from New Orleans, where Sean Payton found a way to incorporate three and sometimes four backs. Leshoure may fill a Mark Ingram or Chris Ivory-like role.

Mikel Leshoure skipped voluntary workouts this week due to a "personal issue." "He did have a personal issue, let's put it that way," coach Jim Caldwell said. "We knew he was gone and what was happening. We were well aware of it." Leshoure is no higher than the No. 3 running back on the depth chart and has openly said that he'd like to play for a team that will give him more carries. He has one year left on his rookie deal and may be in for another long season.
