Laurent Robinson admits he's off to a rocky start in Jaguars camp. "I've been struggling," Robinson said. "I'm getting off the line pretty good. I just can't catch the ball deep right now. But it's a work in progress. It's going to come." Robinson also said he "got a little tired" in the Jaguars' first padded practice Monday. For what it's worth, Robinson reportedly looked much better on Tuesday. Even though he'll be a starter from Day 1 after getting a late start in 2011, Robinson has almost no shot at matching his 54/858/11 line from last season, particularly his touchdown total.

Coach Mike Mularkey indicated that Laurent Robinson has been disappointing to open Jaguars training camp. The Jags paid Robinson $32.5 million in the offseason, but he hasn't looked like that kind of a wide receiver so far. "He's got to make some plays," Mularkey said. "Maybe he's pressing. I'm not sure." Mularkey is confident that Robinson will "come around," but we doubt it will happen enough to earn him WR3 value in fantasy football. Blaine Gabbert is working against Robinson, as well.

The Florida Times Union calls Laurent Robinson the "obvious leader of the receiving corps". No. 5 pick Justin Blackmon figures to take over that role eventually, but he's still learning Mike Mularkey's offense and bouncing back from a recent DUI arrest. Blackmon and Mike Thomas are listed as the second and third options. The team figures to feature Robinson and Blackmon on the outside with Thomas in the slot.

The Jaguars anticipate using Laurent Robinson at "X" receiver and No. 5 pick Justin Blackmon at "Z" in Mike Mularkey's offense. Mike Thomas will return to his natural place in the slot after trying him outside failed under the past coaching staff. On Mularkey's Falcons last year, Julio Jones largely played the X receiver position Robinson will now occupy, and he'll run more vertical routes. Roddy White was Mularkey's Z, or flanker. Blackmon will be a physical, mostly possession receiver in Jacksonville.

Jaguars signed WR Laurent Robinson, formerly of the Cowboys, to a five-year, $32.5 million contract. The deal reportedly includes $14 million guaranteed. It's a hefty chunk of change for an injury-prone journeyman, but a necessary risk for a team that fielded one of the worst "receiver corps" in recent memory last season. If Robinson plays anything like he did for Dallas in 2011, he'll provide the Jags with a true vertical and red-zone threat. Of course, with skittish sophomore Blaine Gabbert at the controls, he'll have a hard time matching the out-of-nowhere numbers he posted for the Cowboys.

According to the Florida Times-Union, money is not an issue in the Jaguars discussions with free agent Laurent Robinson. In other words, the Jaguars are prepared to satisfy Robinson's contract demands. The only issue is if Robinson is prepared to play in Jacksonville. We suspect the sides will hammer out a deal, as the Miami Herald previously reported Robinson was only interested in visiting the Dolphins if a contract couldn't be squared away with the Jags.

The Sacramento Bee reports the 49ers are interested in free agent Laurent Robinson. Robinson is now one of the crown jewels of a receiver market that was rapidly pillaged Tuesday, and is drawing interest from the Dolphins, Jaguars, Jets and Cowboys in addition to the 49ers. He'd be a younger, though possibly more expensive, alternative to Brandon Lloyd.

The Dallas Morning News reports the Dolphins have joined the list of free agent Laurent Robinson's suitors. Robinson is meeting with the Jaguars on Tuesday evening, and will presumably head south to Miami if no deal is reached with the Jags. With a number of receiver-desperate teams now in the mix for Robinson's services, he's extremely unlikely to re-sign with Dallas.

Free agent Laurent Robinson remains hopeful of re-signing with the Cowboys, but says his free agency choice will be a "business decision." As the one time journeyman should do, he's following the money. "I love it in Dallas and I had great success here last year," Robinson said. "I'm going to feel them out and see what's going on. It's a business decision, and if it's here, it's here. If it's not, it's not." With the free agent receiver market rapidly thinning, Robinson is going to get priced out of the Cowboys' range.

The New York Daily News downplays the Jets' reported interest in free agent Laurent Robinson. "He's going to be a quality free agent signing," tweets beat writer Manish Mehta. "It just won't be with the Jets." Robinson is being pursued by the Jaguars, Cardinals, Cowboys, and Chargers. The Jets don't any part of a bidding war for a second- or third-tier receiver.
