Patriots agreed to terms with TE Kellen Winslow, sources tell ESPN Boston. The deal is pending a physical, which is no small caveat when it comes to Winslow. Although the 29-year-old hasn't missed a game due to injury since 2008, he's dealt with chronic soreness in his right knee for the last couple years. But if healthy, Winslow will provide an athletic pass-catching option for the Patriots while Aaron Hernandez (ankle) rehabs. Just one year ago, he caught 75 passes for 763 yards as a Buc. Winslow projects to quickly find his way onto the field in two-tight end sets, which the Patriots had been using as a base.

Free agent TE Kellen Winslow failed his Patriots physical. Winslow worked out for the Pats on Tuesday, but was done in by his troublesome right knee. If the Pats had truly wanted to sign Winslow, they more than likely could have given him a passing physical. Winslow should find work at some point in 2012.

The Seattle Times calls TE Kellen Winslow's release an "out-of-the-blue shock." Winslow had been "very involved with what Seattle was doing on offense," functioning as the "receiving specialist" in two-tight end sets. Beat writer Danny O'Neil even writes that Winslow was giving the defense "fits" in practice, leaving his release in favor of Evan Moore as something that "will make you scratch your head until it bleeds." The Seahawks decided that Winslow's practice work wasn't worthy of a $3.3 million salary.

Kellen Winslow believes "99 percent" of NFL players would retire rather than play with the pain in his surgically-repaired knee. Winslow has always thought highly of himself, so it's no surprise that he believes he's more resilient than the rest of the league. Winslow's Dynasty value has long been in the tank due to the creaky knee. Battling Zach Miller for production in Seattle's run-heavy offense, his redraft value is hanging by a thread as well.

ESPN 710 Seattle said Kellen Winslow "will be" the Seahawks starting tight end and feels there is a "good chance" he leads the team in receptions. Winslow is 29 and continues to struggle with a surgically-repaired right knee, so take the predictions with a big grain of salt. It's plausible Winslow could unseat Zach Miller as the team's top tight end, especially on passing downs, but the cards are significantly stacked against him leading the team in receptions. He's a back-end TE2 at best.

Seahawks TE Kellen Winslow says he "had to roll" from Tampa following the hiring of Greg Schiano. "(Schiano) came over there (and said), 'Toes on the line! Toes on the line!' Blowing the whistle. You can't laugh. You can't joke around," Winslow said. "So I decided not to go to OTAs." Winslow also said he'd "take a bullet" for former Bucs coach Raheem Morris, and that Tampa "fired the wrong dude." Winslow should split snaps with Zach Miller in Seattle.

Kellen Winslow concedes that his surgically repaired right knee has limited his effectiveness over the past couple of seasons. "If I was healthy, which I never will be again, I would be Aaron Hernandez and (Jason) Witten together," Winslow said. "But, hey, I do what I can out there with the situation I have." Expected to be limited in practices again this season, Winslow is a fringe TE2 while splitting time with Zach Miller in a run-heavy offense.
