Reed is retiring from football, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 2013 third-round pick played six seasons for Washington and one for San Francisco, peaking in 2015 with an 87/952/11 receiving line in 14 games. Reed missed multiple games every year, including an entire season in 2019. He might've been a regular Pro Bowler with better injury luck, as he averaged 5.4 catches for 56.5 yards per game over his first four NFL seasons, hauling in 75.8 percent of his targets in the process.

Reed had 26 receptions (46 targets) for 231 yards and four touchdowns across 10 games with San Francisco in the 2020 season.
EDGE Analysis
It was Reed's first action since 2018 when he was still a member of the Washington Football Team and a bevvy of concussions had his career in jeopardy. Fortunately for the All-Pro tight end, he was able to stay relatively healthy with 49ers outside of a couple minor non-head injuries. The coaching staff kept Reed in a split-time role, which is probably the best scenario for the tight end's longevity moving forward. Even in a limited role, the 29-year-old proved to still be a receiving threat, especially in the red zone, with eight red-zone targets and four touchdowns in 10 games. Reed will be an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2021 season, and he could have a fantasy impact if he lands in the right situation given how shallow the position currently stands.

Reed caught two of five targets for 18 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 41-33 loss to the Cowboys.
EDGE Analysis
Reed got off to a promising start as he got his team on the board with a five-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter. He later added a 13-yard reception but was unable to haul in any more passes and finished with another modest yardage total. Meanwhile, George Kittle (foot) is pushing to return for the final two games of the season, but it remains to be seen if he's activated, given the 49ers' 5-9 record. If not, Reed would once again serve as the top tight end next Saturday against the Cardinals.

Reed had two receptions (five targets) for 12 yards in Sunday's 23-15 loss to the Washington Football Team.
EDGE Analysis
Reed (33 snaps) continues to split playing time with starter Ross Dwelley (36 snaps), with the latter being used more as a blocker and the former as a receiving threat. This was the first week that Dwelley (two receptions for 20 yards) outproduced the veteran tight end statistically, but Reed still garnered more targets with five to the starter's two. The 30-year-old still can post usable fantasy numbers in his current role, but the inconsistent play of backup quarterback Nick Mullens has kept Reed from becoming a fixture in standard leagues. George Kittle (foot) is unlikely to return for Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys, so Reed will continue to serve as the 49ers' primary receiving tight end for another week.

Reed brought in three of four targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' 34-24 loss to the Bills on Monday night.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran tight end was on his way to a decidedly unremarkable performance until corralling a five-yard touchdown pass from Nick Mullens in the right corner of the end zone with 54 seconds remaining. The touchdown grab was Reed's third of the season but first since Week 2 against the Jets, the contest in which he notched his other two scoring catches. Reed has put together a combined 10-112-1 line over the last three games while continuing to help fill in for George Kittle (IR-foot), and he'll look to carry over Monday's late-game spark into a Week 14 battle against his old Washington teammates.

Reed caught just two of six targets for 18 yards in Sunday's 23-20 win over the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Reed continued to share the starting workload with Ross Dwelley in George Kittle's (foot) extended absence. The former logged 44 percent of the offensive snaps while the latter saw 61 percent, but it was Reed who commanded most of the attention in the passing game (six targets to Dwelley's two). However, quarterback Nick Mullens did not have his finest game despite getting the victory, failing to connect with his veteran tight end on multiple occasions. Reed remains the preferred option in San Francisco for fantasy purposes, but inconsistent quarterback play could result in rough outings like Sunday's.

Reed (illness) is active for Sunday's game versus the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Reed was held out Thursday and Friday due to an illness, but it won't impact his ability to suit up Week 12. In two contests with George Kittle (foot) on injured reserve, Reed has totaled six catches (on eight targets) for 65 yards.

Reed (illness) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams.
EDGE Analysis
Reed was held out of practice Thursday and Friday while recovering from an illness that reportedly isn't related to COVID-19. An absence Sunday could free up more pass-catching work for fellow tight end Ross Dwelley, who saw two targets to Reed's six in the final game before a Week 11 bye. George Kittle (foot) remains on injured reserve, with no assurance of making another game appearance this season.

Reed (illness) didn't practice Thursday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The same applies to teammates Dre Greenlaw and Azeez Al-Shaair, but Lombardi notes that the trio's absence Thursday was non-Covid-19 related. We'll circle back on Reed's status Friday to see if he approaches Sunday's game against the Rams fully cleared to play or heads into the weekend with an injury/illness designation.

Reed caught five of six targets for 62 yards during Sunday's 27-13 loss to the Saints.
EDGE Analysis
Reed finished second on the team in targets, catches and receiving yards as he delivered his best output of the season in the latter category. He made an excellent one-handed catch on a low throw and demonstrated his still-considerable ability on another couple of grabs. Reed should have plenty of chances to contribute as long as George Kittle (foot) is sidelined, which could be until late in the season. Reed will rest up over the upcoming bye before presumably serving as the team's top tight end in Week 12 against the Rams.
