Reed (concussion) didn't practice Friday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed is trending toward a third straight absence to start the season as his team prepares for Monday's game against the Bears. It's another nice opportunity for Vernon Davis, albeit against a stellar defense.

Reed (concussion) was a non-participant at Thursday's practice, Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed is closing in on one month in the concussion protocol and now has missed back-to-back practices (also, last Friday). Considering he was listed as limited on each of the first five injury reports of the season, it appears he may have suffered a setback in his recovery. While his noted history with head injuries doesn't bode well for an appearance anytime soon, the Redskins have yet to rule Reed out for Monday's contest against the Bears. In the end, veteran tight end Vernon Davis seems poised for another start.

Reed (concussion) wasn't spotted at the portion of Thursday's practice open to the media, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
In the concussion protocol since preseason Week 3, Reed hasn't made much progress and even seemed to take a step back when he was held out of practice last Friday. Now absent again nearly a week later, he seems to be treading water with his recovery. The Redskins will reveal his true level of participation with the release of Thursday's injury report.

Coach Jay Gruden said Monday that there was no change in Reed's status as the tight end continues to recover from a concussion, Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed practiced in limited fashion last week before missing his second straight game in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Cowboys. Gruden's comments suggests that Reed didn't make any advancements through the five-step concussion protocol over the weekend, which seemingly doesn't bode well for the 29-year-old's chances of suiting up Week 3 versus the Bears.

Reed (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Dallas, Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Last week, the Redskins waited until Saturday to rule Reed out, with coach Jay Gruden then saying Monday that he was optimistic for a Week 2 return. Now ruled out Friday, the tight end doesn't seem to be making any progress through the NFL's concussion protocol, leaving Vernon Davis as the starter for a second straight week. The 35-year-old Davis played 81.3 percent of snaps in a season-opening loss to Philadelphia, catching four of seven targets for 59 yards and a touchdown.

Reed (concussion) isn't present for the media-access portion of Friday's practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ben Standig of The Athletic notes that optimism is waning in regard to Reed's availability for Sunday's game against Dallas. The tight end remained limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, showing no sign of tangible progress through the NFL's concussion protocol. Another update will be available Friday afternoon when Washington releases the final injury report for Week 2.

Reed (concussion) remained limited Thursday at practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed has been listed as a limited participant at every practice the past two weeks, working his way through the concussion protocol at what should probably be the expected rate for a player with a long history of head injuries. He did get some work in team drills Wednesday, perhaps marking a step forward toward gaining clearance for Sunday's game against Dallas. Fellow tight end Vernon Davis took advantage of Reed's absence in a Week 1 loss to Philadelphia, posting a 4-59-1 receiving line on seven targets with the help of shoddy tackling from the Eagles defense.

Reed (concussion) was limited in practice Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite maintaining a "limited" listing on all four injury reports to start the season, Reed remains in the concussion protocol, coach Jay Gruden confirmed to Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington during a media session Wednesday. On a positive note, Reed participated in some team drills, per John Keim of ESPN.com, the first time the tight end reportedly has done so. Seemingly trending in the right direction, Reed's playing status is contingent on getting clearance from an independent neurologist.

Reed (concussion) participated in practice Wednesday, Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reed practiced in a limited fashion last week and visited with an independent neurologist Saturday, at which point he was unable to clear the final hurdle to play. Coach Jay Gruden relayed Monday that he was optimistic about Reed's chances of returning to action Week 2 against the Cowboys, per JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington. Still, Reed will have to complete his journey through the concussion protocol in order to suit up Sunday.

Coach Jay Gruden is "very optimistic" about Reed (concussion) returning for Week 2 against Dallas, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gruden previously was optimistic about Reed's availability for the regular-season opener, noting Aug. 27 that he expected the tight end to be ready. That obviously didn't come to fruition, with Reed ruled out Saturday after being listed as a limited practice participant throughout the week. Washington adjusted to his absence with heavy usage of three-wide formations, giving Vernon Davis the vast majority of snaps at tight end. The offense now is dealing with another significant injury -- running back Derrius Guice is in danger of missing time due to a knee issue.
