The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the Packers plan to let James Jones walk in free agency. "I don't think [GM] Ted Thompson wants him," Jones' agent said. The Packers are set at receiver with Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb and Jarrett Boykin. They also need to get Nelson and Cobb extended within the next calendar year or so. Jones could face a semi-cold market due to age (30 in March) and a loaded draft and free-agent pool at the receiver position.

ESPN New York thinks James Jones "makes the most sense" for the Giants among the free agent wide receivers. It seems every Packers offensive free agent is being connected to the Giants. New Giants OC Ben McAdoo was the Packers QBs coach this past season. The Giants are looking to replace Hakeem Nicks, who isn't expected back, but we really don't see GM Jerry Reese committing much money to the position. Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, and Jerrell Jernigan should make up a fine three-wide group. Signing a veteran on a cheap one-year deal could make more sense.

James Jones revealed on Tuesday that he played through two broken ribs the last two weeks. Jones says he broke his ribs in the Week 16 game against the Steelers and was spitting up blood the following day. He continued to practice and play through it, which is why he wasn't on the injury report. "Its part of the game," Jones said. "You've got to go out there." Impending free agent Jones once again reiterated his desire to re-sign with the Packers.

Impending free agent James Jones wants to re-sign with the Packers. "I'm not one of those guys who goes home and says I'm worth 30, 40 million," Jones said. "We'll see what happens when the market comes." The Packers aren't going to pay soon-to-be 30-year-old Jones top dollar or probably even what Jones could get on the open market. GM Ted Thompson isn't fond of paying veterans much guaranteed money, and he could choose to give Jones' snaps to Jarrett Boykin in 2014. Randall Cobb will handle slot receiver duties.

James Jones was held to two receptions for 20 yards in Green Bay's Wild Card loss to the 49ers. Jones had a number of chances to make plays at the intermediate and deep sections, but the Niners' defensive backs deserve credit for tight coverage on Green Bay's most physical receiver. Turning 30 in March, Jones will enter 2014 free agency coming off a 59-817-3 line during the regular season. We suspect he will depart, and be replaced by Jarrett Boykin in Green Bay.

James Jones caught six passes for 41 yards in Green Bay's Week 17 win over the Bears. Jones' seven targets were a distant second to Jordy Nelson's 16 in Aaron Rodgers' return. Jones' roller-coaster 2013 ends with 59 catches for 817 yards and three scores. He simply wasn't much of a factor during Rodgers' seven-game absence, but will be a candidate to pop big plays in the playoffs. Going on 30, Jones is headed to free agency in the offseason.

James Jones caught three passes for 49 yards and a touchdown in Green Bay's Week 15 win over the Cowboys. 39 of Jones' yards came on a first-quarter slant, where he whipped Cowboys slot CB Orlando Scandrick off the line of scrimmage. Jones appeared to tweak a muscle on the play, and caught just two passes for 10 yards thereafter. He never came out of the game, drawing seven targets. With Aaron Rodgers returning for Week 16 looking like a real possibility, Jones is shaping up as a high-reward WR3 for the fantasy finals.

James Jones caught four passes for 19 yards in the Packers' Week 14 win over Atlanta. Jones served as the Packers' No. 2 receiver in terms of snaps played, but is essentially fighting for weekly targets with Andrew Quarless, Jarrett Boykin, and Eddie Lacy behind Jordy Nelson. Aaron Rodgers' (collarbone) possible Week 15 return against Dallas could still spike Jones' value into high-end WR3 territory. He's struggled for stats with Matt Flynn and Scott Tolzien.

James Jones caught three passes for 79 yards in Green Bay's Week 13 loss to the Lions. It would have been a completely lost afternoon for Jones had he not caught a contested 56-yard bomb in garbage time. Fill-in QB Matt Flynn finished with just 139 yards on 20 attempts, taking seven sacks in the process. His receivers never had a chance at a big day. With Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) looking likely to return for Week 14, however, Jones will finally be back on the radar as a high-end WR3.

James Jones caught seven passes for 80 yards in Green Bay's Week 12 tie with Minnesota. Jones saw a game-high 12 targets. His long gain of 28 yards came on a fourth-and-six free play where the Vikings jumped offsides. Matt Flynn heaved a pass in the air, and Jones came down with it in the middle of the field. Earlier in the day, Jones couldn't hang onto a first-and-goal back-shoulder pass from Scott Tolzien in the corner of the end zone. He hasn't scored since Week 5 against the Lions. Jones will be a WR3 when the Packers take on Detroit on Thursday.
