The Raiders are only likely to keep five wide receivers on their 53-man roster. The Raiders may not have a true No. 1 receiver, but they have a ton of talent in the wide receiver corps. If they are only to keep five, they will have to cut two of Andre Holmes, Greg Little, Brice Butler, or Juron Criner. While nobody on that list is an established contributor, all have high ceilings. Oakland could also choose to move inconsistent playmaker Denarius Moore to free up a spot for some of their young talent. Wideout is one of the few positions in which the Raiders are solid.

Raiders signed WR James Jones, formerly of the Packers, to a three-year contract. Jones, 30, set career highs in catches (59) and yards (817) last season with Green Bay, scoring three touchdowns after leading the NFL in touchdown catches (14) the previous year. He gives the Raiders a physical presence with an ability to win contested catches and stretch the field. Unfortunately, Jones going to quarterback-less Oakland could be a death knell for his fantasy outlook. We fully expect Jones to start, but the rest of the Raiders' receiver pecking order is to-be-determined between Denarius Moore, Rod Streater, and Andre Holmes.

Free agent James Jones told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he wants to play for the Panthers. "I would love the opportunity to play for the Carolina Panthers," said Jones, 30. "I would love to play with Cam (Newton)." A Charlotte Observer report from last Thursday stated the Panthers are "keeping tabs" on Jones, but his market has lacked buzz since. Carolina has serious salary cap restraints as long as Greg Hardy's cap number is sitting at above $13 million. The Panthers may simply not be able to afford Jones at this point in time.

The Panthers are "keeping tabs" on free agent James Jones. They're also "slow-playing" Hakeem Nicks' market. GM Dave Gettleman took a similar philosophy into 2013 free agency and emerged with several big-time contributors, including Mike Mitchell, Ted Ginn, Drayton Florence, and Travelle Wharton. After releasing Steve Smith, Carolina needs two starting receivers.

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports the Jets will continue to pursue free agent James Jones even if they land Eric Decker. The Jets are putting the full-court press on Decker as we speak. So at least they are aware they need two new starting wideouts, and plan to do something about it. Jones and Decker have both been touchdown-scoring receivers throughout their careers, though they've been playing with Aaron Rodgers and Peyton Manning, respectively. Their fantasy values would suffer in New York.

TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline reports the Lions have fallen out of the running for free agent WR James Jones. It's possible they've decided to commit more money elsewhere, perhaps to SS T.J. Ward. Pauline reports the Jets, Giants, Dolphins, "and a fourth (undisclosed) team" are in the hunt for Jones. Jones is a quality No. 2 NFL receiver.

TFY Draft Insider Tony Pauline reports free agent James Jones is drawing "heavy interest" from the Lions and Jets. Pauline adds that the Packers "may still be in the mix" for Jones, though it seems like a longshot. Jones hasn't been linked to many teams since the season ended but recently mentioned the Colts and Chargers as teams he'd be interested in. Playing alongside Calvin Johnson and Matthew Stafford wouldn't be a bad gig. The Jets would likely have to blow Jones away financially to land him.

Free agent James Jones suggested the Colts and Chargers as possible landing spots. The Packers have made it clear that they're going to move forward with Jarrett Boykin as their No. 3 wideout, allowing Jones to walk. The Colts certainly have a need with 35-year-old Reggie Wayne coming off a torn ACL and only unproven LaVon Brazill/Da'Rick Rogers behind T.Y. Hilton. The Chargers are equally thin behind Keenan Allen. Jones would have a chance to step in as the No. 2 wideout in plus passing schemes in both locales.

Free agent James Jones said, "In a perfect world I would love to go back (to Green Bay)," but admits there is a chance he will not get that opportunity. It is more than a chance. The Packers have shown no desire to re-sign Jones, and he is very likely to hit the free agent market. Unfortunately for Jones, that market is likely to be fairly cold due to his age -- 30 this month -- and a loaded draft and free-agent pool. Jones is our No. 7 free agent wide receiver.
