Long announced Monday on his personal Twitter account that he will retire from professional football.
EDGE Analysis
Long, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, earned trips to the Pro Bowl in his first four seasons with the Dolphins before injuries derailed his career. The 31-year-old, who hadn't appeared in more than 10 games in a season since 2013, decided it was best to step away from the game while he was in the midst of rehabbing an Achilles injury he suffered on Nov. 13. Long appeared in 77 career NFL games with the Dolphins, Rams and Vikings.

Long (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Long signed with the Vikings a little over a month ago after Andre Smith (triceps) and Matt Kalil (hip) were lost for the season. The Vikings' offensive line continues to be ravaged by injuries, with the team bringing in Rashod Hill to replace Long.

Long will likely miss the rest of the season after suffering an injury to his left Achilles' tendon in Sunday's loss to Washington, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Vikings depth on offensive line will be severely tested as Long was a late addition after Matt Kalil and Andre Smith were lost for the season. Given Long's long history of injuries, this could be the end of his career.

Long signed a contract with Minnesota, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Andre Smith placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury, the Vikings are in need of depth on the offensive line. As a result, they'll take a chance on Long who hadn't been able to sign with a team after playing just 10 snaps last season after tearing his ACL in both 2013 and 2014.

Long remains a free agent after declining to sign an injury waiver with the Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
EDGE Analysis
Long was expected to sign with the Ravens this week, but after the team requested he sign a waiver to reduce liability for his oft-injured right knee, Long pulled the plug on any potential deal. The former No. 1 pick tore his ACL in both 2013 and 2014, limiting him to just 10 snaps played for the Falcons last season. Although Long passed an exit physical with Atlanta back in January, his health remains a sticking point for potential suitors.

Long has agreed to a one-year deal with the Ravens, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
EDGE Analysis
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, Long was one of the league's better left tackles during his time in Miami, but knee injuries have derailed his career. After spending 2015 as a reserve for the Falcons, the 31-year-old will likely provide depth behind Ronnie Stanley and Rick Wagner in Baltimore.

Long has signed a one-year deal with the Falcons that has a play-and-pay structure with no guaranteed money, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The nature of this deal, with a good chunk of the money tied to incentives, indicates that Long's market has dried up of teams looking to take any risk on the 30-year-old, former first overall pick. It's a low-risk deal for the Falcons, who will probably wait a while for Long to get into shape before working him into the depth chart. Long isn't likely to overtake Jake Matthews, but he could have a shot at time at right tackle if Ryan Schraeder underperforms. That is, of course, if Long can stay healthy.

The Rams have released Long (knee), NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. The Rams also cut center Scott Wells, though Rapoport relays that the team plans to continue to discuss options with Long as he rehabs from his latest ACL injury.

Long's knee injury suffered Sunday has been confirmed as a torn ACL, ESPN reports. Long re-tore the same ACL he injured in December of last year, representing another unfortunate setback for the former No. 1 overall pick. With the 29-year-old slated for the Rams' injured reserve list, Greg Robinson, the No. 2 selection of this year's draft, could be fast-tracked to play left tackle in the coming weeks.

There are fears that Long tore his ACL on Sunday against the Chiefs, NFL.com reports. Long is slated to have an MRI on Sunday night, but it looks as though his season could be in jeopardy due to another potentially major knee injury.
