The St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Bernie Miklasz reports the Rams are in a "holding pattern" with free agent LT Jake Long, and waiting for Long to respond to their offer. Proposals have been exchanged, now it's up to someone to budge. Most reports have indicated it won't be the Rams, who only want Long at their price. Long's "visit" is turning into an extended stay, but there should be a resolution by Friday. The smart money is on Long leaving South Beach for the Gateway City, but it's not a given.

According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, it "sounds like" the Rams are hammering out a deal with free agent LT Jake Long. Long has been visiting St. Louis since Tuesday. The key piece of information here is that the Rams are fine with the former No. 1 overall pick medically. That's somewhat surprising considering he's dealt with biceps, triceps, knees, back and shoulder injuries over the last few seasons. Long would be a massive upgrade for the Rams' offensive line, but the accumulation of those injuries makes a massive financial commitment a risk.

NFL.com reports a resolution to free agent LT Jake Long's Rams visit isn't expected until Thursday. Both sides must be worn out from Long's marathon physical. With every hour that passes that Long isn't a Ram, the chances increase he returns to Miami. We should have an answer by this time tomorrow.

NFL Network's Jeff Darlington reported on Total Access Wednesday that the Dolphins still haven't ruled out re-signing free agent Jake Long. Tweeted Long less than an hour ago, "Got the tour of STL today and was pleasantly surprised. Not selling our house in MIA though!" Reported Darlington, "I'm told that the Dolphins still do really like Long. They do still want him back." If the Rams were going to bowl Long over with a contract, we suspect it would have happened by now. Long's decision is clearly down to St. Louis and Miami.

The Dolphins "remain hopeful" they can re-sign free agent LT Jake Long. Long's Rams "deal" is getting less and less "done," it would appear. The Rams are still in the driver's seat, but what they turn up in Long's Wednesday physical will be critical. If they find something not to their liking, Long's only real choice may be to head back to Miami on a team-friendly offer.

Both NFL Network and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch are shooting down a "report" that the Rams have a deal in place with free agent Jake Long. We've historically found the media outlet "reporting" the Long deal to be incredibly specious and unreliable, so we hesitated to post it. Upon further inspection by reliable reporters like the Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, no deal is done. Long is still undergoing his physical, and according to Thomas the Rams and Long "haven't even discussed 'terms.'"

NFL.com reports free agent LT Jake Long's chances of signing with the Rams "hinge" on his physical. Long will take his physical Wednesday. If the results are good, there's a good chance he'll sign on the spot. Long lost a potential suitor when the Bears signed Jermon Bushrod, leaving St. Louis and Miami as his two most realistic landing spots. He'll be in big trouble if the Rams doctors don't like what they find.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald predicts the Rams will get free agent LT Jake Long under contract. Long's Rams visit take place tomorrow, so that's when a deal would go down. Salguero reports the Dolphins believe they have a shot at Long -- and they're still sitting on $20 million in salary cap room -- but Salguero believes a return to Miami is "not happening." It's definitely down to the Rams and Fins.

As the free-agent signing period approaches, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah is hearing "last-minute buzz" the Rams will sign free agent Jake Long. We'll be interested to see the money. We're also interested to see whether St. Louis will play Jake Long at left or right tackle. Rodger Saffold can play either side. Long has been targeting $11 million annually, which would make him the NFL's second highest paid left tackle behind only Cleveland's Joe Thomas.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport adds the Colts to the list of the teams pursuing free agent LT Jake Long. The Bears, Rams, Colts, Eagles and Dolphins are all now known to be in the mix. Per the Palm Beach Post, the Dolphins haven't changed their stance of wanting Long back, but only at their price. With the way his market appears to be shaping up, Long has likely played his final down in South Beach.
