Locker will retire from the NFL, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports. Locker, who the Titans made the No. 8 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft, thus surprisingly calls it a career at the age of 26, after a four-year stint with Tennessee that was marked by several injuries, which hampered both his availability and production.

Locker (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve Monday, NFL.com's Kevin Patra reports. Locker left Sunday's game with a left shoulder injury, and his season is over. Zach Mettenberger is also dealing with a shoulder injury, and it's not clear when he will be able to return. In the meantime, the Titans signed Jordan Palmer to serve as Charlie Whitehurst's backup for Week 15.

Locker was forced from Sunday's game against the Jets with a left shoulder injury, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports. With Zach Mettenberger out, Locker's latest injury results in Charlie Whitehurst taking over at QB for the Titans on Sunday.

With Zach Mettenberger ruled out, Locker is slated to start Sunday's game against the Jets. While the Titans have yet to rule out Mettenberger beyond Week 15, we suspect that Locker is on track to start the team's final three games, assuming he remains healthy. This week, Locker will be working behind a shorthanded offensive line and with a banged-up wideout corps, though for those digging deep in Week 15, it's worth noting that the Jets have allowed 29 passing TDs to date. Only the Bears have allowed more.

Locker will start Sunday's game against the Jets if Zach Mettenberger (shoulder, doubtful) is unavailable. Meanwhile, coach Ken Whisenhunt won't officially rule Mettenberger out for Sunday's game just yet, suggesting that the QB is week-to-week. At this stage though, the signs continue to point toward a scenario in which Locker likely ends up starting the Titans' final three game this season. We'll let you know if that assessment changes.

Locker, who came on in the fourth quarter for the injured Zach Mettenberger (shoulder), completed 9-of-11 passes for 81 yards and an interception during Sunday's 36-7 loss to the Giants. That's now two weeks in a row that Locker has had to come on after Mettenberger was forced out with an injury, and it looks very possible that Locker could start in Week 15 against the Jets. It couldn't be a much better matchup for Locker, as the Jets have allowed the second-most passing touchdowns this season, including two (and 309 passing yards) to Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday.

Locker, who came on in relief of Zach Mettenberger after he suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter, completed 6-of-12 passes for 91 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions Sunday against the Texans. Mettenberger said after the game that he suffered a Grade 1 AC joint sprain and expects to play in Week 14 against the Giants. Despite Mettenberger's belief that he'll play next Sunday, the injury is to his throwing shoulder and he'll surely need to practice next week in order to play. If he's limited at all, Locker will be available against a Giants defense that is ranked in the bottom-10 against the pass this season.

Locker (thumb) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans as the backup behind Zach Mettenberger. Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt has apparently seen enough of Locker to now give Mettenberger a try to see if he can help a 2-5 squad get going. As long as Mettenberger isn't a disaster, Locker's starting days could be over in Tennessee.

Locker (right thumb) was a full practice participant Friday and is probable for Sunday's game against the Texans, the Tennessean reports. Assuming no setbacks with his thumb, Locker is thus in line to suit up Sunday and serve as Zach Mettenberger' backup.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Thursday that Locker (thumb) will serve as the Titans' No. 2 QB behind Zach Mettenbeger on Sunday against the Texans, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports. With Locker evidently healthy enough to suit up as the team's No. 2 quarterback this week, the move to Mettenbeger is thus being made in the hopes of sparking the 2-5 squad's offense. Per coach Ken Whisenhunt, Locker would have an opportunity to play if Mettenberger suffers an injury going forward, which implies that the QB switch is not viewed as a temporary one.
