The Cardinals will release McCoy on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals are left with Joshua Dobbs, Clayton Tune and David Blough as options to start Week 1 at Washington, as McCoy is no longer on the team and Kyler Murray (knee) is expected to be kept ineligible on the reserve/PUP list for at least the first four games. Schefter suggests Dobbs, a recent trade acquisition, is the favorite to start Week 1. McCoy, meanwhile, will turn 37 the first week of September and may struggle to find a backup quarterback job elsewhere.

McCoy didn't play in Saturday's 18-17 preseason win in Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Afterward, coach Jonathan Gannon wouldn't say who will be under center for the Cardinals in Week 1 at Washington, per Jose M. Romero of The Arizona Republic. Prior to the team trading for Joshua Dobbs on Thursday, McCoy appeared to be the favorite to get the call in place of Kyler Murray as the latter continues his recovery from last December's torn ACL. With Dobbs in the mix, he -- along with McCoy and rookie Clayton Tune -- seem to be the options to lead the Cardinals offense in the season opener.

McCoy completed five of eight passes for 25 yards and had a six-yard run during Saturday's 38-10 preseason loss to the Chiefs.
EDGE Analysis
McCoy was afforded the Cardinals' first three possessions of the game, but all three ended in punts. Despite the lack of headway on offense, he again worked ahead of fellow reserve quarterbacks Clayton Tune and David Blough with Kyler Murray (knee) still in recovery mode. If Murray isn't healthy by Week 1, McCoy figures to lead Arizona's offense until the former is ready to roll.

McCoy got the start in place of a sidelined Kyler Murray (knee) in Friday's preseason opener against Denver. He completed all four of his passes for 17 yards before giving way to the reserves.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old career backup doesn't have much to prove in a preseason game at this stage of his career, hence the brief outing. Murray is the unquestioned starter and franchise quarterback when he is available to play, but his status for Week 1 remains murky at best, which could make McCoy the de-facto starter and one of David Blough or Clayton Tune the new backup. Expect both of the younger options to continue logging big minutes in the remaining preseason games, but neither is expected to challenge Murray or McCoy in their current roles with the club.

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said McCoy will see some snaps in Friday's preseason opener against the Broncos, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gannon wouldn't divulge exactly how he plans to split playing time among his quarterback group, which is still without Kyler Murray (knee), but McCoy will presumably get the start Friday and play limited snaps. The veteran underwent offseason surgery to address an elbow issue, but he's been full go this offseason and will likely open 2023 as the Cardinals' starting QB.

McCoy (elbow) has been a full participant at OTAs, Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCoy injured his elbow last season and needed offseason surgery. He's been getting the bulk of the first-team reps this spring with Kyler Murray still recovering from his torn ACL. There's a good chance McCoy opens the year as Arizona's starter, as the prospect of Murray being available Week 1 is iffy.

McCoy (undisclosed) underwent a "minor" procedure following the 2022 season, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ahead of this year's offseason program, starting QB Kyler Murray continues to rehab and recover from a torn ACL, while McCoy recently underwent a procedure to address an unspecified issue. Though Arizona's new head coach Jonathan Gannon said that McCoy "looks good" at this stage, Darren Urban of the team's official site relays via Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill that McCoy figures to face some limitations in the offseason.

McCoy (undisclosed) will be limited at the start of the offseason program, according to Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCoy took over for an injured Kyler Murray (knee) in Week 14 of the 2022 campaign but was then forced out with a concussion in Week 15, and didn't play again down the stretch. Now the veteran QB is dealing with an unspecified injury that is slated to limit him out of the gate this offseason. Per Urban, with both Murray and McCoy recovering from injuries, the Cardinals may look to add signal caller depth ahead of the coming season.

McCoy (concussion) won't play in Sunday's season finale against Atlanta, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
David Blough will get his second straight start for the Cardinals while McCoy remains in the concussion protocol. The 36-year-old is signed with Arizona through 2023 on a contract that includes a 60 percent guarantee of his $3.75 million base salary for next season, but it's nonetheless possible the team explores new options for the backup quarterback role, especially if head coach Kliff Kingsbury is no longer around.

McCoy is dealing with concussion symptoms again and won't play in Sunday's game at Atlanta, with the Cardinals instead turning to David Blough as their starting quarterback, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals apparently have seen enough of Trace McSorley, who completed only one of his 10 targets to DeAndre Hopkins in last week's loss to Tampa Bay. Hopkins, meanwhile, left Friday's practice early with a knee injury, potentially putting the Arizona offense in an even worse spot entering Sunday. It'll be a challenge for Blough, who was signed two weeks ago, even against a vulnerable Atlanta defense.
