Clemons has informed the Seahawks that he is planning to retire, Mike Garafolo of NFL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clemons is retiring after signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks in the spring. The 34-year-old defensive end only recorded 14 combined tackles in 16 games for the Jaguars in 2015, but enjoyed a long and prosperous NFL career, racking up 69 sacks in his 12 seasons. He had arguably the most productive stint in his career in Seattle, where he racked up 38 sacks in four seasons from 2010 to 2013.

Clemons has agreed to terms with the Seahawks.
EDGE Analysis
Clemons will re-join the Seahawks after spending the past two years with the Jaguars, who he joined following Seattle's 2013 Super Bowl season. Although Clemons posted 36 tackles and eight sacks in his first season in Jacksonville, he managed just 14 tackles and three sacks last term, leading to his release from the team in a salary dump last month. In heading back to Seattle, Clemons figures to bolster the Seahawks' front-seven, but at 34 years old, his best days may be behind him.

Clemons was released by Jaguars on Thursday, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.
EDGE Analysis
Clemons release saves the Jaguars $4 million in salary cap space. The 13-year veteran has played the last two season in Jacksonville. This past year he racked up 14 tackles and three sacks in 16 games. The 34-year-old will now look to find his way onto a roster in need of defensive line depth.

Clemons, who skipped all of voluntary OTAs, is expected to show up for next week's mandatory minicamp, the Florida Times-Union reports. Clemons isn't holding out for a new contract or voicing any kind of protest; he simply doesn't see the need to attend voluntary workouts as a 33-year-old 10-year veteran. The Jags were hoping No. 3 overall draft pick Dante Fowler (torn ACL) could take some of the pass-rushing pressure off Clemons, but with the rookie now out for the season, Clemons again looks to be the team's top outside pass rusher. He had 36 tackles (27 solo), eight sacks, four forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and three passes defensed in 16 games last season.

Clemons is not attending Jacksonville's organized team activities, the Florida Times-Union reports. Clemons is an habitual no-show at voluntary OTAs, going back to his days in Seattle. The 33-year-old's job appeared to be in jeopardy when the Jaguars selected Dante Fowler with the third overall pick in the draft, but he tore the ACL in his left knee during the rookie minicamp and will miss the 2015 season. So, Clemons will probably retain his starting job, but head coach Gus Bradley is expecting him for mandatory minicamp that kicks off June 16.

Jaguars signed DE Chris Clemons, formerly of the Seahawks, to a four-year contract. Jacksonville will field an all-ex-Seahawk defensive end pairing of LE Red Bryant and RE Clemons in 2014. Clemons is a "Leo" outside pass rusher, a defensive end-outside linebacker hybrid position in the Gus Bradley/Pete Carroll defense. He shouldn't be relied upon for more than 60 percent or so of the Jaguars' defensive snaps going on age 33, but still has some juice left in the tank. Clemons posted 4.5 sacks as an 11-game starter last year, and received positive pass-rush grades from Pro Football Focus. He figures to share time with Andre Branch on the edge.

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports that "if everything goes to plan," the Jaguars will sign DE Chris Clemons to a "multi-year" contract. After being released by Seattle earlier Wednesday, Clemons is on his way to Jacksonville to visit his old coach Gus Bradley. The two sides should have no issues hammering out a deal, as long as Clemons' knee checks out. Bradley is the big draw for the Jaguars. Clemons has 38 sacks the past four seasons.

Free agent DE Chris Clemons will visit the Jaguars. Per NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, there's "lots of mutual interest there." Clemons played for Jaguars coach Gus Bradley in Seattle, and would keep the 'Hawks-to-Jags pipeline going steady. Clemons turns 33 in October, but still has some pass-rushing juice left in the tank.

Seahawks released DE Chris Clemons. The move frees up more than $7 million in cap space. Clemons made a successful 2013 return from his 2012 ACL tear, recording 4.5 sacks and a forced fumble across 14 games (11 starts). He "started" over both Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril, who will now be leaned upon for more snaps. Clemons is entering his age-33 season, but could still help a team in a pass-rusher rotation. He'll inevitably be linked to ex-Seattle DC Gus Bradley in Jacksonville.
