Brown's teammate, Fred Jackson, is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, wgr550.com reports. Though Jackson practiced on a limited basis this week, coach Doug Marrone acknowledged "we're still not where we need to be, though, for him to go out there." Unless things look up for Jackson on the health front in the next couple of days, Anthony Dixon and Brown could be on track head the Bills' backfield for the second straight contest. In such a scenario, it's not hard to imagine Brown seeing more snaps than the 14 that he recorded while working behind Dixon in his season debut, back in Week 8.

Brown only saw action on 14 offensive snaps (25 percent) in Sunday's win over the Jets, according to WGR550.com. Meanwhile, Anthony Dixon played 75 percent of the offensive snaps, so as expected it's Dixon who's remained higher in the pecking order. Neither back did much at all with their carries, with Brown posting a 7/15/0 line and Dixon putting up a 22/44/0 line. Brown was given three targets to Dixon's zero, but didn't haul in any of them. With a bye in Week 9 and Fred Jackson's return expected sometime in November - and perhaps the early part - Brown's window of fantasy opportunity may not be all that vast. That said, with C.J. Spiller on returnable IR, Brown should at least be active the rest of the way, and maybe he'll at least have a few chances to show he can be the guy who gets the team's sagging running game going again.

Brown had seven carries for 15 yards and failed to catch any of the three balls thrown his way Sunday against the Jets. Active for the first time all season thanks to the injuries to C.J. Spiller (collarbone) and Fred Jackson (groin), Brown was the clear No. 2 behind Anthony Dixon, who had 22 carries for 44 yards. Both Spiller and Jackson are expected to be out for a few weeks, with the former possibly out all season, so Brown should continue to be active in the coming weeks, though he'll be the backup in Week 10 against the Chiefs after a Week 9 bye.

Brown is active for Sunday's game against the Jets, though he will be the backup to Anthony Dixon. Dixon beat out Brown for the No. 3 running back spot this season, but with C.J. Spiller (collarbone) and Fred Jackson (groin) both out for multiple weeks after suffering injuries last Sunday against the Vikings, the Bills turn to their backups. While Dixon will get the start, it's entirely possible that the team will employ a time-share, similar to what they had been doing with Spiller and Jackson, though Dixon is expected to get the goal-line touches, which limits Brown's fantasy value.

Brown's teammate Anthony Dixon lined up with the first-team offense next to Kyle Orton during Wednesday's practice, while Brown was used mostly with the second team, ESPN's Mike Rodak reports. Running backs are gold this time of season once injuries strike - and the last few weeks have certainly a bloodbath for the position - so people all over are trying to play hunches on the Buffalo situation following injuries to Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller in the same half. The truth is we won't know for sure until the Bills line up to play the Jets this week, and even that could change as soon as game flow kicks in. So we'll give you the knowns in as simple a fashion as possible: Dixon is the likely starter and the surer thing. He beat out Brown for the No. 3 spot for a reason and the team brass seems to love his attitude and all-around game. He's going to get his chance, and one of his skill sets lies around the the goal line. So there's some safety in picking Dixon if you're hurting at running back. Brown, on the other hand, is the upside play. We've seen what he can do while LeSean McCoy was hurt, and simply put he's a better athlete than Dixon. There's a chance Dixon has trouble behind an offensive line that's struggling and the quicker-bursting Brown takes the job and runs with it for four weeks. To sum it up, we like Dixon by a slight margin as a short-term play and he could end up being a nice plugger/chugger for your lineup for a month, but if you're filling bench spots and looking for a lottery ticket, Brown probably has more upside.

Brown is in line for an expanded role with the Bills in the coming weeks, with both Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller out indefinitely, the team's official site reports. The same applies to fellow running back Boobie Dixon, who was pressed into the Bills' lead role in Sunday's win over the Vikings, following Jackson and Spiller's injuries. That said, while Brown has been inactive for the Bills' first seven games, during his two-season stint with the Eagles (2012-13), he displayed flashes of potential when handed increased duties. While Dixon is no doubt in line to factor in as well, notably in short-yardage situations, Brown would appear to offer more fantasy upside to those looking to replace Jackson or Spiller, or simply looking to boost their running back corps heading into Week 8.

With C.J. Spiller out for an "indefinite" amount of time, and Fred Jackson dealing with a groin injury, opportunity knocks for Brown, starting next Sunday against the Jets. Brown has yet to be active this season, but with Spiller out and Jackson's Week 8 status unclear, it looks like the Bills' rushing attack next week could well feature a combo of Anthony Dixon and Brown, a potential scenario that makes Brown worthy of a speculative add.

Through four games, Brown has yet to suit up for the Bills. Brown had a nice preseason after the Bills traded for him on draft weekend, but they seem to like Boobie Dixon a little more as the No. 3 back behind Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller. Brown would probably need two injuries ahead of him to have any value, though his speed, running style, and the run-oriented team he plays for does make him worth consideration should the aforementioned injury situation take place.

Brown is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears, the Bills' official site reports. With Brown scratched, Anthony Dixon is in line to serve as the Bills' No. 3 RB behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson on Sunday.

Brown had a nice night in Friday's preseason win over Carolina, carrying 11 times for 64 yards and a 5.8 average. Brown also added two receptions for 18 yards. Brown is competing with Anthony Dixon for the third role behind C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. Dixon also had a good game, while we'll note coach Doug Marrone has been saying he only plans on using two main ball carriers once the real games get going.
