Okoye (illness) will remain on IR for the rest of the season, the Dallas Morning News reports. The Cowboys apparently didn't see enough progress from him in practice to warrant adding him to the 53-man roster. Okoye will get a chance to win a roster spot in training camp next year, however.

Okoye (illness) will begin practicing on Thursday, the Dallas Morning News reports. Once he begins practicing, the Cowboys will have three weeks to decide whether to add him to the 53-man roster or not. Okoye hasn't played in a game since December 2012 after surviving a battle with a rare brain condition, but he could add some more depth at defensive tackle coming out of the Cowboys' bye week.

Okoye (illness) feels that he'll be ready to play when he's eligible to come off the non-football injury list after Week 6, Rowan Kavner of DallasCowboys.com reports. He's currently doing conditioning work and getting back to his playing weight after surviving a serious and rare brain condition that required him to be placed in a medically-induced coma. It's been almost two years since Okoye played in a game, however, so don't expect him to make any kind of immediate impact once he gets into the lineup.

Okoye (illness) could begin practicing with the Cowboys as soon as Monday, the Dallas Morning News reports. Details are finally surfacing about Okoye's illness, an extremely rare and potentially fatal auto-immune disorder that causes brain inflammation, and given what Okoye's been through over the past 17 months it's amazing that he's even close to a return to the field. The Cowboys will understandably be very cautious with Okoye, but it's beginning to look like he will have a role on their defensive line this season.

Cowboys DT Amobi Okoye (illness) is "recovering well and getting close." Okoye remains hopeful he'll be cleared for camp, though he's still a candidate to begin on the active/PUP list. Okoye's undisclosed ailment kept him out for all of 2013. Any contributions the Cowboys' depleted defensive line gets from Okoye this season will be a bonus.
