Carter announced Thursday in the latest episode of his "Winging It with Vince Carter" podcast that he has retired from the NBA.
EDGE Analysis
The oldest player in the league at 43 years old, Carter spent 22 seasons in the NBA and emerged as one of the game's iconic stars right away in 1998-99, when he took home Rookie of the Year honors. The following season, Carter began a streak of eight consecutive All-Star nods and went on to win the Slam Dunk Contest in one of the most memorable performances in the event's history. After a decade of stardom in Toronto and New Jersey, Carter transitioned into more of a supporting role in the back half of his career, doing most of his damage as a three-point specialist while providing a positive veteran presence for the Magic, Suns, Mavericks, Grizzlies, Kings and Hawks. He finishes his career with 1,541 regular-season appearances and averages of 16.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.5 three-pointers and 1.0 steals in 30.1 minutes per game.

Carter notched three points during Wednesday's 127-105 loss at the Cavaliers.
EDGE Analysis
Carter has posted single-scoring efforts in three straight games and while he has logged double-digit minutes in 10 of his last 12 outings off the bench, that hasn't translated to decent scoring figures. The veteran is averaging just 6.3 points per game on 39.7 shooting from the field during that stretch, and he shouldn't have a lot of upside even in the deepest formats.

Carter delivered 14 points (4-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two blocks and one steal in 24 minutes off the bench during Thursday's 127-117 win over the Sixers.
EDGE Analysis
Carter hasn't played much of a role for the Hawks this season and has been struggling to get playing time -- he rarely sees over 20 minutes of action and even when he does, he's not a lock for guaranteed scoring figures. As a result, Carter should remain on waivers until further notice, even if he has decent scoring performances from time to time.

Carter scored three points (1-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt) to go with three rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes Saturday in the Hawks' 116-111 win over the Pacers.
EDGE Analysis
After sitting out the front end of the Hawks' back-to-back set Friday in Boston, Carter came off the bench for his first appearance of 2020. In so doing, the 42-year-old became the first player in NBA history to play in four different decades, per Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Expect Carter to achieve a few more longevity-related records over the next few months in what may be the final season of his career.

Carter put up 15 points (5-9 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 1-3 FT), two blocks and one assist in 24 minutes off the bench Tuesday in the Hawks' 143-120 loss to the Knicks.
EDGE Analysis
In what was likely his final game at Madison Square Garden, Carter drew a rousing ovation from the crowd and was able to feed off the energy. The 42-year-old still has the ability to light it up from the outside every now and then when he's given open looks, but Tuesday's performance still represents a clear outlier. Even after the 4-for-7 showing, he's still converting at only a 30.8 percent clip from distance this season.

Carter had 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-6 3PT), two assists, one rebound and one block in 20 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 122-107 win at Charlotte.
EDGE Analysis
Carter reached the 20-minute plateau for the second time this season, and scored in double figures just for the third time. The veteran small forward might not have much left in the tank, but he can still produce when given enough minutes. Unfortunately, that won't be enough to make him fantasy relevant unless he can see a drastic uptick on his playing time moving forward.

Carter scored two points (1-2 FG, 0-1 3Pt) and blocked a shot in a 130-118 defeat to Brooklyn on Wednesday night.
EDGE Analysis
Carter's sole basket came from a slick turnaround fadeaway in the first quarter. Though Carter is averaging 14.9 minutes played, impressive for a 42-year-old, he doesn't offer much value with his 4.9 points per game and 34.1 percent shooting from the field.

Carter (personal) played 24 minutes off the bench Wednesday in the Hawks' 135-127 loss to the Bucks, finishing with 13 points (5-13 FG, 3-9 3Pt), two assists and one rebound.
EDGE Analysis
In his return from a five-game absence due to a personal matter, Carter surprisingly held a high-volume role off the bench, as his 13 shot attempts were five more than his top total in any other game this season. He shouldn't be counted on to deliver double-digit points on a regular basis, but the veteran looks like he'll hold down a spot in the rotation for now as the backup power forward behind Jabari Parker.

Carter (personal) is not on the injury report for Wednesday's game against the Bucks, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
A personal matter has kept Carter out over the past five games, but he should make his return Wednesday. He's averaging 5.1 points and 2.1 rebounds in 14.4 minutes.

Carter (personal) participated in Tuesday's practice, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carter hasn't taken the court since Nov. 8 due to a personal matter, but it's a positive sign that he was back in the gym with his team Tuesday. His availability for Wednesday's game against Milwaukee remains a mystery, but he's expected to be back in action soon, per Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site. "We'll slowly bring him back," stated coach Lloyd Pierce. "Conditioning will be a little bit of a factor."
