Neal accepted a coaching position with Towson basketball program earlier this summer, signaling the end of his playing career, Jeff Goodman of Stadium reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neal will return to his alma mater after a 13-year odyssey in the professional ranks that included stops in the NBA, the G League, Turkey and Spain. He spent parts of seven of those seasons in the NBA with the Spurs, Bobcats, Bucks, Timberwolves, Wizards and Hawks, logging 352 regular-season appearances and averaging 9.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 21.3 minutes per game for his career. His last action in the NBA ranks came in January 2017, when he played two games for Atlanta after inking a 10-day contract.

Neal's 10-day contract with the Hawks expired on Friday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neal made two appearances with the Hawks during his 10-day deal with the club, averaging 2.0 points in 9.0 minutes per outing. The Hawks apparently weren't impressed enough with Neal's performance, so rather than inking him to another 10-day deal, they signed Lamar Patterson to add some depth in the backcourt. Neal will likely head back to the D-League as he awaits another call back to the NBA.

Neal will be inactive for Friday's contests against the Wizards, Chris Vivlamore of AJC.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This doesn't come as much of a surprise, since Neal is 32-years-old and would be taking playing time from younger, healthier players in the Hawks' loaded backcourt. He'll likely only see playing time in the event of an injury to another backcourt player.

Neal provided four points (0-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and one assist across 13 minutes during a 118-95 loss to the Pistons on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Neal made his season debut for the Hawks after signing a 10-day contract with the team earlier in the day. He received immediate playing time as the team got blown out, and secured all of his point from free throws. Every member of the Hawks got playing time in the loss, and with the amount of depth the team has at guard, Neal will likely not be getting a lot of minutes going forward.

Neal signed a 10-day contract with the Hawks on Wednesday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting his career out with three straight seasons in San Antonio, Neal has bounced around the league since, spending time with the Bucks, Hornets, Timberwolves and Wizards over the last three seasons. Most recently with the Wizards during the 2015-16 campaign, he averaged 9.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists across 40 games, which included a pair of starts. Harris underwent surgery on his hip back in April of last year, but appears to be at full strength and should jump in as a depth option at shooting guard behind the likes of Kent Bazemore, Tim Hardaway and Mike Dunleavy. Neal likely won't be a part of the Hawks regular rotation, however, thus keeping him off the fantasy radar.

Neal worked out with the Hawks earlier this week and is a strong candidate to receive a 10-day contract, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
After getting surgery to deal with a thigh issue and being waived by the Wizards last season, Neal is apparently looking well and may end up signing a 10-day contract with the Hawks. The 32-year-old guard saw 20.2 minutes per game with the Wizards last year and averaged 10.1 points on 37.4 percent shooting, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per contest. He could make for a strong veteran presence for the Hawks, who are hoping to do some damage in the playoffs.

Neal (leg) is expected to resume basketball activities starting in June after undergoing surgery on a torn hip labrum earlier this week, Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neal had been dealing with soreness in his leg since before the NBA All-Star break, which turned out to be a torn hip labrum. He had surgery on it earlier this week and will now sit out until June, which is when he's expected to resume basketball activities. Neal was waived by the Wizards at the start of March, but should have plenty of suitors for the 2016-17 season once he's able to get completely healthy.

Neal (thigh) will be waived by the Wizards on Wednesday, Marc Stein of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neal hasn't played in more than a month due to a leg injury, and with is prognosis apparently still clouded for the rest of the season, the team will cut bait and bring in Marcus Thornton to fill his spot. Given Neal's injury and the fact that he's not playoff-eligible, he's unlikely to be picked up by another team until the offseason.

Neal (thigh) is unavailable to participate in Saturday's matchup with the Pacers, Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will be the 13th consecutive game missed for Neal due to soreness in his right knee. Neal has been considered day-to-day during that time, which makes the length of his absence at this point somewhat of a concern. His next opportunity to return to action will be Tuesday against the Trail Blazers.

Neal (thigh) didn't join the Wizards for their two-game road trip to Minnesota on Wednesday and Cleveland on Friday, J. Michael of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Neal has already missed the past 10 games with right thigh soreness and his upcoming absence from the team should come with little surprise. The next opportunity for the 31-year-old to play will be against Indiana on Saturday.
