Todd Helton told the Denver Post on Saturday that he will retire at the end of the season. Everyone has been assuming that'd be the case for most of the year, but this confirms it. Helton had a Hall of Fame-prime for the Rockies, even after accounting for Coors Field, but since he didn't establish himself until he was 24 and back problems caused his play to fall off in his mid-30s, he's likely to have a hard time getting into Cooperstown. With a couple of weeks left to go, he's a lifetime .317/.415/.539 hitter with 367 homers and 1,397 RBI in 17 seasons.

Todd Helton hit a go-ahead homer off former teammate Huston Street in the top of the ninth Friday against the Padres. Too bad the Rockies had to go and ruin the moment by blowing the game in the bottom of the ninth. Helton has five homers in eight games after hitting just eight previously this season. It seemed likely that his outstanding career would end with a whimper, but maybe he'll go out on a high note after all.

Todd Helton recorded his 2,500 career hit in Sunday's victory over the Reds. Helton had been hitless in his previous eight at-bats, but managed a double off reliever Curtis Partch in the bottom of the seventh inning to pick up the milestone. It was also his 584th career double, which places him just one behind Rafael Palmeiro for 16th on the all-time list. Helton has been playing well as of late and had a pair of three-run homers in Friday's win over the Reds.

Todd Helton smacked a pair of three-run homers in Friday's win over the Reds. The six RBI matched a career-high while it was his first two-homer game since April 26, 2011. With a .255/.323/.410 with 11 home runs and 48 RBI, Helton hasn't made much noise in what will likely be his final season, but the 40-year-old still has a chance to finish his career on a high note.

Todd Helton hit his ninth homer of the year Monday off the Giants' Barry Zito. It was Helton's first homer off a southpaw this season. Of course, he's barely started against them lately and that's not something that figures to change coming down the stretch.

Todd Helton is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Padres. It's safe to assume he's getting a routine day of rest for the afternoon game. Michael Cuddyer is playing first base in his return to action.

Todd Helton was sentenced to one year of probation, a $400 fine and 24 hours of community service after he entered a guilty plea Tuesday to "driving while ability impaired." Helton was arrested back in February on suspicion of DUI. Prosecutors said Tuesday that the 39-year-old had a .102 blood alcohol level. "I am very regretful," Helton said in court. "I have taken measures to ensure it never happens again."

Rockies activated 1B Todd Helton from the 15-day disabled list. Helton had been sidelined since April 19 due to left forearm inflammation. He didn't play and rehab games, but the Rockies aren't worried about the 39-year-old's timing.
