The Tigers announced Monday that Wilson was hired as a big-league scout, signaling the end of his playing career, Lynn Henning of The Detroit News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson, 37, was out of baseball for all of 2018 but never formally announced his intention to retire. The utility man spent parts of eight seasons in the big leagues from 2005 through 2015 that included stints with the Marlins, Nationals, Rays, Diamondbacks, Padres, Mariners, Brewers, Rangers and Tigers.

Wilson was traded to the Indians on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old has been tearing it up at Triple-A Round Rock this season, posting a .918 OPS in 22 games with the Express. This intrigued the Tribe enough to bring him over to Cleveland, although he'll likely spend more time as an organizational depth piece given the lack of room on the big-league roster.

Wilson signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 36-year-old infielder has some major-league experience to his name, most recently spending 2014 with Texas and 2015 with Detroit. The latter stint showed some promise, as he pieced together a .316 batting average in 38 at-bats with the Tigers. He'll likely provide organizational depth unless a glaring hole appears at the major-league level.

Wilson has elected to become a free agent.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson bounced around between Triple-A and the majors this season, but he still managed to appear in 21 games with the Tigers this year. The 34-year-old actually posted a career high in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, slashing a surprising .316/.350/.395 in his limited amount of opportunities this season. That being said, he's mainly served as organizational depth for the last four years of his career and he will likely continue to stay in that role if he is signed by another club.

Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday, Anthony French of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers added Wilson to the 40-man roster earlier Tuesday, and he's now been officially recalled and will join the team in advance of the night's matchup against Tampa Bay. With Jose Iglesias (finger) currently sidelined, Wilson will simply provide depth up the middle now that the Triple-A season is over.

The Tigers have designated Daniel Fields for assignment, clearing a spot on the 40-man roster for Wilson, according to MLive.com.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson provides the team with depth down the middle, what with Jose Iglesias sidelined with a broken finger. But he's versatile enough to rove the diamond if they need him for that.

wilson accepted his assignment to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Wilson experienced some success in his brief major league stint, batting 8-for-21 with three RBI and four runs over 11 games with the Tigers. He saw a brief run of starts at third base, but most of his action came as a pinch hitter afterwards. He'll provide organizational depth at this point, but could be a candidate for recall should an injury occur in the Tigers' infield.

Wilson was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. The 34-year-old had been used sparingly, seeing a mere four at-bats over the past two weeks, and was an obvious candidate to lose his 40-man spot with Marc Krauss coming aboard via a waiver claim. Wilson figures to pass through waivers and play out most of the year as organizational depth in the minors.

Wilson, who was called up from Triple-A last week, smacked a double and finished 1-for-4 with three strikeouts in Tuesday's win over the Cubs. It was his third start at third base in the last four games. He's hit in each of those three games -- try 6-for-13 with three RBI. But it's just a mirage. Career .229 utility infielders don't change their spots at age 34. He'll be back to his usual light-hitting ways in short order.

The Tigers purchased Wilson's contract Tuesday. The Tigers were previously carrying Andrew Romine as the only backup infielder, and Wilson will provide additional depth. The 34-year-old Wilson owns a .226/.278/.316 career slash line in 1,057 at-bats, with just 10 home runs and 14 stolen bases.
