Wilson was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. The 34-year-old had been used sparingly, seeing a mere four at-bats over the past two weeks, and was an obvious candidate to lose his 40-man spot with Marc Krauss coming aboard via a waiver claim. Wilson figures to pass through waivers and play out most of the year as organizational depth in the minors.
