Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that Joel Hanrahan (elbow) is expected to throw off a mound in about a month and be ready by late March. It was reported last week that Hanrahan was ahead of schedule, but late March would be a pretty remarkable recovery. When he had Tommy John and flexor tendon surgery in mid-May, he was projected to be out as long as 16 months, putting him in line for a midseason return. The smart money would probably be on him returning somewhere in between those two estimates. Sherman notes that Hanrahan is willing to accept a setup job as he rebuilds his value.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) will throw from 120 feet on flat ground this week. Hanrahan's initial timetable after undergoing Tommy John and flexor tendon surgery in mid-May was as long as 16 months, but MassLive.com's Evan Drellich says the reliever is "well ahead of schedule." A free agent this winter, Hanrahan will probably look for an incentive-laden, one-year deal as he attempts to rebuild his value.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) will begin throwing from a distance of 75 feet on Monday as he continues his recovery from Tommy John surgery and flexor tendon surgery. Hanrahan underwent both procedures in mid-May and was given a 12-to-14 month timetable for his recovery, putting an expected return somewhere around the All-Star break in 2014. The hard-throwing 32-year-old right-hander represents a low-risk, high-reward option on the free agent market this offseason.

Joel Hanrahan was upbeat after undergoing successful surgery to repair a torn right flexor tendon, as well as Tommy John surgery on Thursday and is anxious to begin his rehab. Hanrahan will be in a cast for ten days, but will be ready to start the recovery process on day 11. Regardless of how quickly he begins the recovery process, he's looking at a 12-to-14 month timetable for his return. Hanrahan, who is a free agent after the season, is a long way away from having any tangible fantasy value.

Joel Hanrahan underwent Tommy John surgery in addition to flexor tendon surgery on his right elbow Thursday. He also had bone spurs removed from the elbow. The flexor tendon repair was expected, but the hope is that Hanrahan wouldn't need Tommy John. As it is, he'll now be sidelined well into the 2014 season. Hanrahan is slated for free agency this winter.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) will undergo season-ending surgery. Hanrahan was hoping to rehab the injury, but the damage is extensive and needs to be surgically repaired. As of now, he's expected to visit with Dr. James Andrews next week to have the procedure done. Hanrahan, 31, is very unlikely to be back with the Red Sox and is set to become a free agent in 2014.

Joel Hanrahan was diagnosed with damage to the flexor tendon in his right elbow. The flexor tendon is what protects the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow. Hanrahan has yet to decide whether he will rest and rehab the injury or undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. Either way, he is facing an extended absence.

Red Sox transferred RHP Joel Hanrhan from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. Hanrahan is off to see Dr. James Andrews in Birmighahm, Alabama for a full examination of his strained right forearm. It's possible that he will require surgery.

The Red Sox have sent the MRI on Joel Hanrahan's forearm to specialists Dr. James Andrews and Dr. David Altchek. Hanrahan is in shutdown mode until the two doctors review the MRI and get back to the team, at which point a rehab scheduled will be formulated. The reliever is expected to be on the shelf for a while.

Red Sox placed RHP Joel Hanrahan on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain. With both Hanrahan and Andrew Bailey now on the disabled list, the Red Sox are expected to use Junichi Tazawa as their primary ninth-inning man. Hanrahan could be on the shelf for a while -- definitely longer than 15 days.
