The defenseman has three points and six penalty minutes on the year and has decent upside from the position. "Awesome. It's always a great thing to get out of the way and always something you dream of," said Redmond. "I never thought it would come on the PK (penalty kill), but I'm definitely happy to get the monkey off my back."

You have to make an impression that you want to be here and nowhere else. They always have eyes on you. We know that. It's about staying calm and composed and knowing what your job is."

Offensively, I'll be OK but I'm working on making sure my defense is where it needs to be and hone in on making smart plays, good outlet passes." In his rookie season with the IceCaps in 2011-12, Redmond potted eight goals and posted 31 points in 72 contests. Coach Keith McCambridge has noticed the blueliner's development and he sees him as a "more mature player."

Redmond leads the IceCaps in scoring early this campaign with three points after four contests. The defenseman also has a whopping 18 shots over that span. Winnipeg's minor-league affiliate has started the year with a 2-2 record.
