Wojtek Wolski recorded a goal and three assists while playing on the Rangers' top line at a team scrimmage over the weekend. He skated alongside Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik during the session and will look to build on that success to earn that coveted spot for the start of the regular season. "When it just clicks right from the beginning, you obviously know that it can work," Wolski said. However, coach John Tortorella said he will continue to give other wingers a chance to play with the talented duo throughout the preseason schedule.

Wojtek Wolski could go from the outhouse to the penthouse in a hurry with a strong showing at training camp. He has been training hard this summer to get back into coach John Tortorella's good graces and might end up on the top line with Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik when all is said and done. Wolski was a candidate to be bought out by the Rangers this off-season, but this opportunity could be his for the taking if he steps up his game and shows more consistency.

There is a very good chance that the Rangers will buy out the contract of Wojtek Wolski. The team is looking for ways to free up cap space to sign restricted free agents Brandon Dubinsky, Brian Doyle and Ryan Callahan, and Wolski's $3.8 million contract could be reduced to a $467,000 cap hit through a buyout. Wolski seems to have worn out his welcome with a third NHL team. It may be time to give up on the talented but inconsistent forward.

With the team unable to buy out the contract to Chris Drury due to a chronic injury, the Rangers may re-evaluate the possibility of buying out Wojtek Wolski this summer. Drury's $7.05 million cap hit, coupled with Wade Redden's $6.5 million tag give the Blueshirts very little financial flexibility this offseason so cutting Wolski loose might be a last report they have to consider. Stay tuned.

It appears that the Rangers will not buy out the contract of Wojtek Wolski during their first window of opportunity. The team has elected to retain the inconsistent forward for the time being but will review the merits of buying him out in the second buy-out period in August for $666,667.00 to save approximately $3 million on their cap.
