O'Neill agreed to terms on a one-year contract with EC Salzburg (EBEL) on Tuesday.

O'Neill started the year on a minor-league contract with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for which he tallied eight helpers in 28 contests, but will now head to Europe for the rest of the campaign. Selected in the seventh round of the 2006 NHL Draft by the Atlanta Thrashers, the University of Maine product played just one game in the NHL for the Flyers last season. The 30-year-old blueliner -- who racked up 2015 points in 424 AHL contests -- likely won't get another shot in the NHL at this point.

O'Neill was reassigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.

The 29-year-old made his long-awaited NHL debut Thursday in St. Louis, throwing three shots on goal in less than 10 minutes of ice time. O'Neill has proven himself to be a productive, puck-moving defenseman in the minors, having recorded an impressive 191 points in 346 AHL games and will be interesting to see if he has another chance to test if his ability translates at the highest level of the sport.

The Flyers recalled O'Neill on Tuesday.

EDGE Analysis

Shayne Gostisbehere (upper body) has already been ruled out of Philadelphia's next two games, so O'Neill will round out the team's depth at defense until Gostisbehere is fit to play. The 29-year-old blueliner has tallied one goal and two assists while posting a plus-5 rating in nine games with AHL Lehigh Valley this campaign.

O'Neill was placed on waivers by the Flyers on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sportsreports.

O'Neill needed an impressive training camp to land a spot on the Opening Night roster, so it shouldn't come as a surprise he was waived for purposes of reassignment. The 29-year-old was limited to just 57 outings for AHL Lehigh Valley last year which saw him failed to crack the 35-point threshold for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign. If he can stay healthy, O'Neill could earn himself a call-up in the near future.

O'Neill signed a two-way contract with the Penguins for the 2015-16 season. O'Neill spent last season with AHL St.Johns where he compiled 48 points after 72 outings. Without any NHL appearances to his credit throughout his career thus far, he'll likely spend the majority of the upcoming season in the AHL yet again.

Will O'Neill has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Winnipeg Jets. O'Neill had 36 points and 80 penalty minutes in 68 games with AHL St. John's in 2013-14. He will probably start the 2014-15 campaign in the minors as well.
