Megan announced his retirement from professional hockey Thursday, Cap Carey of NNY360.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Megan only played in 11 games with Detroit last season, in which he notched one helper, 16 shots and four hits while averaging a mere 7:53 of ice time. Following a four-year collegiate career with Boston University, the 29-year-old was unable to earn regular minutes in the NHL and will retire after just 15 appearances.

Megan cleared waivers Thursday, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Megan presumably will head to AHL Grand Rapids having passed through waivers unclaimed. The depth pivot has a lone assist representing his point total over 15 career games at the top level, so it's safe to ignore him in all fantasy formats.

Megan was called up from AHL Grand Rapids on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Megan has been pulled back to the NHL in the wake of news that net-front winger Anthony Mantha will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a broken hand. The Red Wings called up Megan in late October, but he ended up posting a minus-3 rating over six contents in which he was held without a point. Even without Mantha, we can't envision a scenario where Megan would pick up enough playing time to warrant fantasy consideration.

Megan was returned to AHL Grand Rapids on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Megan assuredly benefited from a lengthy stay at the top level upon his initial call-up. He was held off the scoresheet over a six-game span, but the rookie generated an acceptable 51.5 Corsi rating over that span and Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill was comfortable starting the 28-year-old in the offensive zone over 60 percent of the time at even strength. Still, veteran Thomas Vanek is due back from a lower-body injury Wednesday against the Bruins, and Megan naturally gets bumped down by virtue of having the least amount of NHL experience.

Megan has been held without a point through four games as a Red Wing.
EDGE Analysis
Megan's only averaging nine minutes of ice time per contest and finds himself on pace for a minus-35 rating. The Red Wings would assuredly demote him to the AHL before it would get that ugly for the American skater, but it just goes to show that he's not on the map when it comes to fantasy hockey.

The Red Wings recalled Megan from AHL Grand Rapids on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Wings are dealing with a ton of injuries up front, so Megan will likely slot into the lineup immediately Thursday against New Jersey. The 28-year-old forward has notched two goals and four points in eight AHL appearances this season.

Megan was waived by the Red Wings on Thursday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Megan had virtually no chance at cracking the Opening Night roster with the Red Wings, but he could mesh with AHL Grand Rapids in the likely event that he clears waivers.

Megan agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Red Wings on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Megan potted a goal in his NHL debut with the Blues in December of 2016. However, he's only played in two more games at the highest level since then, as the New York native has been more accustomed to playing in the AHL. Every team needs depth at the center spot, though, and that's precisely what he'll provide for the Wings.

Megan has seven goals, 22 points and 37 PIM through 40 games with AHL Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Megan finished the 2016-17 campaign with 33 goals and 33 assists through 73 games, and he entered training camp with a good shot at finding a place on the Blues' injury-riddled lineup. However, he didn't show the development St. Louis hoped for, so he was promptly sent back to the AHL for more work. His regression could be partly attributed to playing time, since the Blues are no longer sole affiliates with AHL Chicago, but it's still discouraging for Megan, who had one goal in three games for the Blues last season.

Megan was sent down to AHL Chicago on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
This likely won't have much fantasy relevance, as Megan has appeared in just one contest this season for St. Louis. The 27-year-old will likely only be called up to the big club again in the event of an injury.
