The Flames released Svedberg from his professional tryout offer Wednesday, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Svedberg apparently didn't do enough to win the Flames' seventh defenseman job during his tryout, so he'll now look for another opportunity with a different NHL club. If he's unable to find one, he may opt to head overseas to continue his playing career.

Svedberg will link up with the Flames on a professional tryout for training camp, Scott Powers of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The departure of Dougie Hamilton via trade has opened up an opportunity on the blue line in Calgary -- even though the club got Noah Hanifin in return -- which makes this an ideal landing spot for a player trying to earn a permanent contract. Even if he does earn a spot in training camp, the 27-year-old Svedberg could find himself watching from the press box more often than not.

Svedberg was assigned to AHL Rockford on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Svedberg recently cleared waivers, which allows him to head to the Blackhawks affiliate, AHL Rockford. During the 2016-17 campaign, Svedberg had two goals and nine assists across 51 games with Rockford and that will likely be where he spends the majority of the upcoming season as well.

Svedberg was assigned to AHL Rockford on Sunday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
When the defenseman was pulled up, it seemed like he'd only be up for Saturday's preseason finale, and sure enough he was sent back down on Sunday. Svedberg could end up back in Chicago at some point, but for now, he'll start the year in Rockford.

The Blackhawks recalled Svedberg from AHL Rockford on Friday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Svedberg's stay with the Blackhawks will likely be short lived, as the 25-year-old defender was just waived by the big club Monday, and will likely be waived once again after Chicago's preseason finale Saturday against the Blues. The towering 6-foot-8 blueliner will likely only crack Chicago's lineup when the 'Hawks are dealing with several key injuries at defense this season.

Svedberg was one of five played waived by the Blackhawks on Monday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.
EDGE Analysis
Svedberg saw action in 27 contests during his rookie season on his way to two goals and two helpers while averaging 15:45 in ice time per night. Along with the blueliner, the Hawks also waived Pierre-Cedric Labrie, Ernest Schilling, Sam Carrick, and Spencer Abbott; all of whom will be assigned to AHL Rockford if they clear waivers.

Svedberg (lower body) will be ready to play in Wednesday's Game 1 matchup against the Blues, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Svedberg suffered the injury in Saturday's regular-season finale, but the Swedish blueliner appears no worse for the wear. Barring a setback of some kind over the next couple days, he should be fine for the start of the Blackhawks' playoff run. The 24-year-old blueliner split the season between the minors and the NHL, but collected just four points with the Blackhawks over 27 games. Unless something changes, his value in playoff pools will likely remain minimal.

Svedberg sustained a lower-body injury Saturday versus the Blue Jackets and will not return.
EDGE Analysis
Svedberg should be considered day-to-day, at least until the team has a chance to reevaluate the giant Swede ahead of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Svedberg was recalled by the Blackhawks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Blackhawks have been in a major slump lately, losing six of their last seven games, and could benefit from some fresh faces in the lineup. Svedberg, who has notched four points (two goals, two assists) in 19 games with Chicago this season, could slot back into the 'Hawks lineup as soon as Saturday against Calgary.

Svedberg was reassigned to AHL Rockford on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Blackhawks acquired Christian Ehrhoff from the Kings via trade Friday, and thus are no longer in need of Svedberg's services as a depth defender. The 6-foot-8 blueliner has tallied four points (two goals, two assists) in 19 games with Chicago this season, and may not get another opportunity with the big club in 2015-16.
