Brouwer has been released from his professional tryout with the Panthers.

He did not play in the team's preseason game on Tuesday, and with the glut of talented young forwards, the Panthers decided not to bring back the veteran winger. Last season with Florida, Brouwer scored 12 goals and 21 points while averaging a career-low 12:41 in ice time.

Brouwer will attend Florida's training camp on a professional tryout agreement.

Brouwer was a decent bottom-six contributor for the Panthers last season, notching 12 goals and 21 points in 75 contests. However, even if he's able to secure a deal with the team for the 2019-20 campaign, he won't be a viable fantasy option.

Brouwer potted his 10th goal of the season in a 5-2 win over the Senators on Thursday.

EDGE Analysis

Out of the 11 full seasons Brouwer has skated, he failed to hit 10 goals only once -- scoring only six last season. However -- with only 19 points in total this year with the Panthers -- he will likely post the worst offensive output of his career. The 33-year-old ended Thursday's contest a plus-2 with a penalty, two shots and a hit.

Brouwer picked up an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Sharks.

EDGE Analysis

Brouwer has assists in consecutive games, and three points total in seven March appearances. For the season, the winger is up to 18 points (nine goals and assists apiece) in 63 outings this season. The winger should be able to reach 20 points again, but his bottom-six deployment minimizes his ability to generate offense.

Brouwer dished out two assists during Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Coyotes.

EDGE Analysis

The two-point effort is Brouwer's first multi-point game of the season and puts the 33-year-old on a three-game point streak. With only 15 points in 55 games with the Panthers' this season, it seems unlikely the 818 game NHL veteran will be able to find a new contract come July, but the Panthers may be interested in retaining his service.

Brouwer scored his eighth goal of the season in Monday's 4-3 overtime win against the Avalanche.

The veteran winger made his presence felt with four hits to go along with his tally, as well as two shots on goal. Brouwer has a modest 13 points in 54 games, while adding 121 hits for the year. He only averaged 12:07 a game entering the contest, skating primarily on the fourth line during his first year in Sunrise.

The output tied a season-high that Brouwer set on Feb. 10th, and also extended his team lead in points with a total of 110. The veteran winger has only one point in his last 20 games but still attempts to impact the game in other ways in his spot on the fourth line.

Brouwer ended the game a plus-1 with three shots and a hit during a 4-3 shootout loss to the Oilers on Thursday.

In his last 21 games, Brouwer has a total of three points as the Panthers' depth scoring had dried up significantly. After scoring five goals in eight games during mid-November, it looked as though Brouwer had found his scoring touch back, but it seems to have just been a flash in the pan.

Right now Brouwer is scoring a lot more than he is assisting, with seven goals compared to only two assists. That isn't unusual as over his career he has ended half of his full seasons in the NHL with more goals than points, although his current pace would put him at only five assists on the season -- the least by far in his career.

Now with five goals in his last eight games, Brouwer has contributed well as a depth scoring option for the Panthers. However, his shooting percentage is at a sky-high 28.6 percent, meaning his current streak isn't an indication of a career resurgence.
