The Washington Capitals have acquired Troy Brouwer from the Chicago Blackhawks for the 26th overall pick.
Brouwer had 36 points and a team-leading 261 hits in 79 games last season. He also showed his toughness in the postseason by playing through through a shoulder right shoulder labral tear. He's a nice addition for the Capitals, but they will have to ink him to a new contract as he is scheduled to become a restricted free agent this summer.

The Chicago Blackhawks will likely turn their attention to their restricted free agents after the draft this weekend.
"We are going to focus on that come next week," said GM Stan Bowman regarding the team's free agents. "At this point, we're focusing on the draft. We work all year to try to have a good draft and be prepared and ready to go. We may speak to agents over the next few days but in terms of in-depth negotiations, I don't expect to do that. There's enough time. These guys don't really have to be signed by any specific date. We'll get to them in short order." Troy Brouwer, Michael Frolik, Viktor Stalberg and defenseman Chris Campoli are key players that needs new deals.
