Troy Brouwer netted a goal for the Capitals in their 4-3 shootout loss to the Coyotes on Saturday night. When are opponents of the Capitals going to learn? Sure, the Coyotes eked out the win, but they gave the league's deadliest power play seven chances to score -- and it did twice. Brouwer, for his fifth of the year, had one, and John Carlson had the other power-play marker. Twenty of the team's 56 goals have come with the man advantage. Joel Ward also scored for the Caps, at even strength, in the second period.

Troy Brouwer hit on Derek Stepan on Wednesday has been ruled as accidental contact. Brouwer has avoided a potential suspension as a result. The hit knocked Stepan to the ice and raised concerns about a potential concussion, but Stepan seems to have escaped without a significant injury.

Troy Brouwer scored his first goal of the 2013-14 campaign on Monday. Brouwer got off to a cold start after taking a big step forward in the shortened 2013 campaign. He should be able to surpass his career-high of 40 points this season.

Troy Brouwer is stationed on the Capitals' second line with Brooks Laich and Mikhail Grabovski for the season opener against Chicago Tuesday night. Brouwer notched 33 points in 47 games last season and should be a good bet to beat his career high of 40 points in the coming year given those solid stats and his new gifted linemates.

Troy Brouwer scored in the Capitals' preseason win against the Jets on Saturday night. The result, a 4-3 victory via the shootout, hardly matters at this stage. Brouwer scored on a nice passing sequence with Marcus Johansson and Nicklas Backstrom on the power play. Brouwer had a very good season, with 19 goals and 33 points in 47 games, as he played very well with added ice time. It would be fair to peg him for 25 goals and 45-50 points this season. Jack Hillen and Stanislav Galiev notched the other goals for the Caps in regulation.

Troy Brouwer scored for the Capitals in their 4-3 loss against the Rangers in Game 4 of their first-round series Wednesday night. The Capitals had trouble generating any consistent offense through the first half of the game, but found themselves tied 2-2 by the end of the second thanks to a slick backhander from Brouwer, who now has 15 points in 61 playoff games. Mathieu Perreault had the team's first goal, taking advantage of Joel Ward's hard move to the net and banking in the rebound. Karl Alzner had the other goal for Washington. Ward ended up with two helpers. Alex Ovechkin was limited to one shot on goal and a minus-one rating. He also had two penalty minutes.

Troy Brouwer has 19 goals in this 48-game shortened season, just three shy of his career-high of 22. Brouwer has been scoring at a career-best pace this season thanks to increased ice time on the man advantage. With 30 points in 43 games this season, Brouwer should be owned in 12-team leagues for the stretch run.

Troy Brouwer has notched 16 goals and 29 points in 41 games this season. If this wasn't a truncated campaign due to the lockout then Brouwer would have been on pace to reach new career highs in goals and points. "I think this year more than any other year I've been the shooter on the line," he said. "Last year playing with Ovi a lot of the year he was the shooter. When I was in Chicago I with Kane and Toews a lot of the time and they were the shooters." Brouwer credits Mike Ribeiro with this new mindset because "Ribs tells me never to pass it back to him if I've got an opportunity." He's also getting plenty of power-play time and has generated 15 points under those circumstances this year.

Brouwer has been scoring at a career-best pace this season thanks to increased ice time on the power play.
