Morin announced his retirement Wednesday, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.

While Morin only appeared in 13 NHL games with Dallas over the course of his career, he was a standout with AHL Texas. The center played in 691 minor-league contests, notching 175 goals and 386 assists. In addition to joining the AHL club in a front-office role, Morin will also have his number retired.

Morin was waived by the Stars for the purpose of reassignment to the AHL on Wednesday, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail reports.

Morin has been a stud for AHL Texas since joining the organization in 2009, but has only been able to suit up for 13 NHL games. The center has failed to score his first career goal, and appears to be headed for another year in the minors. If he does get called up, fantasy owners probably shouldn't expect him to start racking up offensive numbers based on his past history.

The Stars have assigned Morin to AHL Texas, the team's official site reports.The 31-year-old forward has yet to recored a point in six games with the big club to date this season. Morin returns to Texas as the team's leading scorer, with 40 points in 39 AHL contests.

Morin was recalled from AHL Texas on Saturday, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.The Stars will be without Tyler Seguin (lower body) for at least the next three games after he was placed on injured reserve, so Morin was added to the 23-man roster to provide the team with four healthy centers. Morin has been sensational at the AHL level the last couple of seasons, and had ranked ninth in the league in scoring with 40 points in 39 games prior to his call-up. However, the 31-year-old has thus far failed to make much of an imprint during his time with the Stars, managing only one point over his 12 career NHL contests.

Morin signed a two-year contract extension with the Stars on Friday, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports. Morin was sent to AHL Texas in early January to receive extra playing time, but will remain under contract for two more seasons. The 31-year-old center has 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in 30 games with the AHL club this season, and wont the award for the AHL's top player last season after posting 88 points in 66 games. He has played in just five games with Dallas this season, but will continue to give the team depth should injuries occur.

Morin was assigned to AHL Texas on Monday. The 30-year-old has only made five appearances for the Stars this season and will head down to the AHL to get more consistent playing time. He's already played in 23 games for AHL Texas this season and is currently leading the team with 24 points. Despite the demotion, it would be surprising if Morin wasn't recalled by the Stars at some future point in the year.

Morin is expected to play for the Stars on Saturday, according to the Dallas Morning News. Morin will draw into his first game of the year on Saturday. It'll be his eighth career NHL game. There's always been a lot of potential in Morin with his great AHL numbers, but he has yet to make it happen at the NHL level.

The Stars recalled Morin on Thursday. Since the 2010-11 season Morin has played seven games at the NHL level, recording an assist and six shots. The Stars are looking for a spark and are hoping that the 30-year-old center can bring that with Ryan Garbutt suspended.

Morin cleared waivers on Thursday and will stay with the Stars, according to Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News. Morin was the AHL MVP last season, but the team has opted to send him down to the AHL before the start of the season. That means the team can bring him up to the NHL for 30 days before he has to clear waivers again. It's unlikely he's in the opening night lineup.

Morin was placed on waivers by the Stars on Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports. He had very good numbers with AHL Texas last season, scoring 32 goals and 56 assists but only played four games with the Stars in 2013-14, managing only one assist in those games. If another NHL does not claim him, Morin will return to the AHL. He is now 30 and is not really considered a prospect anymore so his ceiling is not very high. He may play in a few games like he did last season, but don't expect him to be called up and have a fantasy impact.
