Hamonic's first point as a Senator came against his previous team. He helped out on the second of Alex Formenton's goals in the contest. Hamonic hasn't done much on offense this season with eight points in 38 appearances between the Senators and the Canucks. He's added 76 shots on net, 81 blocked shots, 65 hits and a plus-5 rating.

Hamonic will not link up with the team for Tuesday's road game against the Islanders, instead meeting his new club in Winnipeg for Thursday's contest, Brian Compton of NHL.com reports.

EDGE Analysis

Considering Hamonic has just seven points in 24 games this year, and hasn't cracked the 20-point threshold since 2015-16 when a member of the Isles, few fantasy players should be impacted by his delayed Senators debut. Even once in the lineup, Hamonic won't offer more than low-end fantasy value given his limited offensive upside.

The Senators acquired Hamonic from the Canucks in exchange for a third-round draft pick Sunday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Vancouver actually acquires its own 2022 third-round pick after Ottawa received it from Vegas last offseason. Hamonic has seven points in 23 games this season with six of those coming in his last 12 appearances. In his last seven games, Hamonic has three goals and two assists, accounting for all but one of his points this season. He's also racked up 19 shots on net in that span. The defenseman isn't typically a big scorer, but he's on a good run right now.

Hamonic notched an assist and three shots on goal in Monday's 7-2 loss to the Devils.

Hamonic was credited with the secondary helper on Vasili Podkolzin's second-period tally. This was Hamonic's second point in his last four games. The 31-year-old blueliner appears set play regularly in a bottom-four role going forward after drawing into seven straight games since he returned from a lower-body injury. He's at three points, 32 shots on net, 39 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating in 16 appearances this season.

Hamonic scored a goal on four shots, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Monday's 5-2 win over the Kraken.

EDGE Analysis

Hamonic's long-range shot beat Chris Driedger five-hole -- that's one the Kraken netminder will want back. This was Hamonic's first goal and second point in 13 appearances this season. The defenseman was thrust into a top-four role with Kyle Burroughs (undisclosed) out week-to-week. Hamonic should be a fixture in the lineup going forward, but he's more of a defensive presence and doesn't need to be rostered in most fantasy formats.

Hamonic (lower body) has been activated off injured reserve ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Maple Leafs, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hamonic will technically be a game-time call versus Toronto, but all signs currently point to him returning to action against the Maple Leafs. He's picked up one helper through nine games this campaign.

Hamonic (lower body) is closing in on a return, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports. Head coach Bruce Boudreau is hopeful Hamonic will be back playing "within a week."

Hamonic hasn't played since Dec. 8 against Boston, a span of 19 games and counting. If he's able to get back into game action within a week as hoped, Feb. 17 in San Jose seems like a reasonable targeted return date.
