Edmonton Oilers defenseman Theo Peckham suffered a concussion during today's Edmonton Oilers-Columbus Blue Jackets game and won't return. A Rick Nash hit might have been what injured Peckham. The young blueliner doesn't bring much to the table offensively, but his ability to accumulate penalty minutes and eat up a few other smaller categories makes him at least worth a depth consideration for some fantasy owners.

After returning to the Oiler lineup for two games after sitting out for 15, Theo Peckham was a healthy scratch Saturday against Colorado. Peckham took a couple of penalties Thursday night that led to two Montreal goals and coach Tom Renney was not happy as a result. Peckham's fantasy value is derived from his propensity to amass penalty minutes. If he is in the press box, or suiting up for games worried about drawing penalties, he is worthless from a hockey pool perspective.

Theo Peckham has not been in the Edmonton lineup since the end of January. While he suffered facial injuries at that time, Peckham has been ready to go ever since Feb. 19 and has been a healthy scratch as the Oilers have eight healthy defenseman and he is the odd man out. "We have to get Theo in, but it's not always easy. It's often tougher for the player to explain," coach Tom Renney said. "We have some big decisions to make on some people and he's one of them, as with others." When he plays, Peckham has value in the penalty minutes category and little else.

Theo Peckham has been cleared for a return to action. He has missed the last two weeks with facial injuries but seems fully receovered now. We suspect he will take the struggling Cam Barker's place in the Oiler lineup Sunday or Tuesday.

Theo Peckham (face) is still not ready to return to action. Associate coach Ralph Krueger said that Peckham is still not 100 percent and that he hasn't taken part in contact practices yet. He has three points and 74 penalty minutes in 46 games this season. He should return next week.

Theo Peckham (face) has been given the green light to play on Wednesday. Peckham might still end up being listed a healthy scratch. He has three points and 74 penalty minutes in 46 games this season.

Theo Peckham sat out Thursday's game with the Chicago Blackhawks after taking a puck to the face. He was replaced in the lineup by Cam Barker who played for the first time since November as he has been out with an ankle injury. Consider Peckham day-to-day for now.

Theo Peckham is helping the Edmonton Oilers less and less. Peckham often pinches at the wrong moment or fails to position himself correctly to break up opposition rushes or cross-ice passes. He's a fierce hitter and checker - much to the delight of many fans - and he's also OK with the puck on his stick, but he beats himself with mental errors, improper reads. He is regressing. Every Oiler penalty killer is doing better this season except for Peckham. Check it out in this Edmonton Journal piece.

With all the scoring the Oilers did Saturday night against Chicago, it would be easy to miss Theo Peckham's outstanding fantasy performance. He was a plus five and amassed 19 penalty minutes. Now that's an underrated hockey pool virtuoso.

The Edmonton Oilers have lost three consecutive games, in which they were outscored 15-6, and so defenseman Theo Peckham thinks the team must win its next game. "We have to win this next one," said Peckham, who has been a healthy scratch in a number of Edmonton games lately. "If we want to stay in contention for a playoff spot and keep sending messages to the league that we're for real, this year, we have to win on Thursday."
