With Brayden Point (upper body) out for at least the next month, Stamkos will return to his natural center position on the top line.

He missed a point-per-game pace last season, but he topped that mark across his previous four campaigns, so this level of offense isn't unusual for the Ontario native.

Stammer put the Bolts ahead 3-2 with under two minutes to play with a sharp angle shot that somehow trickled under Carter Hart's pad. Stamkos has a goal in four of his last five games, and 18 points in 15 games thus far. At 31, he is flashing the skills that made him one of the league's best young stars almost a decade ago. Stamkos put the icing on the cake at 15:30 of the third period to provide the last goal of the game. The 31-year-old has been excellent this season with eight goals, eight helpers, 38 shots on net and a minus-2 rating in 14 contests. He's picked up six of his points on the power play -- 15 of his 34 points last season came with the man advantage. Stamkos has had at least 10 power-play tallies in each season except the two he suffered long-term injuries during and his rookie year.

Stamkos scored his seventh goal of the season in Tuesday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

The tally was classic Stamkos, as he got free to the right of Frederik Andersen and then fired home a one-timer on a pass from Mathieu Joseph midway through the second period. Unfortunately for the Bolts, it was all the offense they could muster on the night. Stamkos has seven goals and 15 points through 12 games to begin the season, putting him on pace for his first 40-goal campaign since 2018-19 if the 31-year-old can avoid serious injuries.

He helped set up Victor Hedman for the only goal of the first period, then got a three-goal rally started in the third as Tampa Bay pulled away. Stamkos is off to a blistering start to the season with six multi-point performances through 11 games, leading to six goals and 14 points in total.

The goal came on the power play. Stammer has scored at will this season -- in eight games, he has five goals and seven assists, and is flashing the form of a man a decade younger. We love Stamkos, but purely being practical, redraft managers would be wise to cash in their chips in a sell-high trade before he slows or worse, gets hurt.

Stamkos enjoyed his fourth multi-point effort in five games this season, deflecting an Ondrej Palat shot early in the third to tie the game at 2-2, then setting up Brayden Point's game-tying goal late in regulation.
