Johns (undisclosed) skated ahead of Saturday's practice session, but it's unclear whether he'll be ready for Opening Night versus the visiting Coyotes next Thursday, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Stars are expected to roll with Finnish blue-line prospect Miro Heiskanen right out of the gate, which seemingly would offset a potential absence for Johns, at least when it comes to attacking-zone contributions. The former has produced only 33 points over his first 150 games at the top level, but Johns redirects a ton of shots (155 last year) and he even doled out 201 hits for the Stars in 2017-18.

Johns has yet to return to practice after taking a maintenance day Sunday due to minor bumps and bruises, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Stars want to make sure John is healthy for the season opener Oct. 4 against the Coyotes, so they are taking a cautious approach to bringing him back from the minor issues. Given that sentiment, there's a reasonable chance he will miss at least Friday's preseason contest against the Blues.

Johns (upper body) is once again healthy and eager to improve on his 2017-18 performance, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johns appeared in 75 games last year but due to a late-season injury, was unable to finish it on the ice. He did, however, post a career-high 15 points and was a plus-10. Heading into 2018-19 with a clean bill of health, as well as a new contract, Johns is hoping to improve on last season's numbers and is motivated to show they were no fluke. As for his fantasy worth, Johns is only relevant in deeper leagues and shouldn't be counted on as a consistent point producer. He's certainly not shy to throw the body around, so he does carry some value.

Johns (upper body) signed a three-year contract extension with the Stars on Friday that will net him $2.35 million annually, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johns' 2017-18 season ended early due to an upper-body injury, though he still logged 75 games for the Stars and posted career-best marks for points (15), goals (eight), assists (seven) and rating (plus-10). As a result, the Stars have rewarded him with a three-year deal that will keep him in Dallas through the 2020-21 season. It's unlikely Johns -- who averaged just 37 seconds per game on the power play -- will become a fantasy juggernaut along the blue line, but he could slide into the back end of some deep drafts next season.

Johns (upper body) won't travel with the Stars on their upcoming three-game road trip, Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
The three-game road trip makes up the rest of the regular season for the Stars, which means Johns won't be returning unless the team makes the playoffs. That means the 25-year-old defenseman can be forgotten about for fantasy purposes down the stretch.

Johns will miss 4-5 days due to his upper-body injury, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johns will for sure be out of the lineup against the Wild on Saturday, but should be considered questionable to face San Jose on Tuesday. Considering the Pennsylvania native has notched a mere two assists in his previous 20 games, few fantasy owners will be directly impact by his absence. In the meantime, Julius Honka will replace Johns on the blue line.

Johns (upper body) left Thursday's game in Minnesota and will not return, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johns did not return to the bench after the first intermission, so it doesn't seem like he'll make it back to this game. The 25-year-old blueliner has eight goals and 15 points on the season, so his absence shouldn't hurt many owners. More information on the extent of his injury should be available after the game.

Johns has landed 18 hits in his previous five outings.
EDGE Analysis
Johns currently leads the Stars with 99 hits on the year for a 2.54 average. In addition, the defenseman is also first in blocks with 71. Unfortunately for fantasy owners, that's about all the help they will get from the Notre Dame product, as he has registered a mere seven points on the year.

Johns (upper body) is slated to return to the lineup Tuesday night against the Golden Knights, NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's probably best to wait for Johns to play in at least one contest before activating him in daily fantasy leagues since the Stars have the latest game on Tuesday's docket and most lineups will lock before then anyway. Johns is hardly a can't-miss option given his active nine-game pointless streak, though he does have 28 hits and 13 blocked shots over that span for those of you using some of the ancillary defensive categories.

Johns (upper body) hasn't been cleared yet, but should play Tuesday against the Golden Knights.
EDGE Analysis
Johns got banged up Friday against the Flames, but if he does in fact get cleared as expected he won't miss any action with this injury. It's all business as usual for the Stars in this case.
