Johns (head) will join AHL Texas on a conditioning assignment and is expected to suit up Friday and Saturday, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Texas plays its next four games at home, which could be a perfect fit for Johns' assignment. Based on that timeline, the blueliner would next be an option for Dallas on Jan. 18 versus Minnesota. Barring a setback, Johns should get back to logging around 18 minutes per game and figures to bump Taylor Fedun from the lineup.

Johns (head) may head to AHL Texas for a conditioning stint soon, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
General manager said Johns -- who hasn't played since the 2017-18 season while dealing with post-traumatic headaches -- has made good progress, and it'll be up to the blueliner to let management know when he's ready for game action. Johns could spend four or five games in the minors before getting back into action at the top level. When he's ready to return, Johns figures to slot in on the bottom pairing.

Johns (head) was a full participant in Saturday's practice, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johns has been skating for over a month now, and he's officially been cleared to practice. Coach Jim Montgomery emphasized that Johns still has to hit a few more checkpoints before returning to game action, but it's positive news for the blueliner who hasn't played since the 2017-18 campaign.

Johns (head) skated Monday morning, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is part of Johns' rehab plan and isn't indicative of a return in the near future. However, it's a good sign for Johns to have a chance to get back in the lineup at some point after missing the entire 2018-19 campaign.

Johns (head) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Johns missed all of last season with post-traumatic headaches, and this move confirms he will also miss at least the start of the 2019-20 campaign. The 27-year-old did not participate in training camp, and given the nature of head injuries, a timeline for his return to the ice is undefined.

Johns (head) is out indefinitely and won't participate in Dallas' training camp, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a disheartening development, as Johns appeared to be making major strides in his recovery from post-traumatic headaches this offseason, partaking in on-ice training on his own and also skating at the Stars' development camp. The 27-year-old hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2017-18, and this point it looks like he might be in danger of missing the entirety of the 2019-20 campaign.

Johns (head) took part in an on-ice session at the Stars' development camp Tuesday, NHL.com's Mike Heika reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is another great indication of the progress Johns has made in his recovery recently, as Tuesday marked the first time he's hit the ice for anything more than a solo skating session in over eight months. The 27-year-old blueliner's status for the start of the 2019-20 campaign is still up in the air, but he's clearly trending in the right direction for a potential return to action.

According to general manager Jim Nill, Johns is trending in the right direction in his recovery from post-traumatic headaches, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Johns missed the entirety of the 2018-19 campaign due to post-traumatic headaches. However, he's been making notable progress in his recovery of late, and appears to be trending in the right direction for a potential return to action in 2019-20. When asked about Johns' status, Nill told Shapiro "He's been skating, and he looks like the old Stephen Johns. I think we are trending in a positive mode. For him, that's a great sign. He feels much better, he looks like himself and sounds like himself, and right now we are pretty positive with where he is heading." There's still a lot of uncertainty surrounding Johns' status heading into next season, but it's nonetheless encouraging to see him back on the ice and feeling like himself. Another update on the 27-year-old blueliner's progress should be made available once Dallas' training camp gets underway in September.

Johns (head) ended the 2018-19 campaign on injured reserve.
EDGE Analysis
Johns missed the entirety of the season due to a head injury, and at this point his career seems to be in serious jeopardy. An update on the 27-year-old blueliner's condition should be made available once training camp gets underway in September, but at this point it looks like Johns may never suit up for the Stars, or any NHL club, again.

Johns (head) has experienced a rough recovery and remains without a clear timetable for a potential return, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is rather sad because Johns holds so much promise as a second-round (60th overall) pick -- he was drafted by the Blackhawks in 2010 but ended up getting traded to the Stars in July of 2015, adding a mere 28 points over 150 games at the top level. We'll keep you posted if and when it looks like Johns will finally come off injured reserve.
