Da Costa re-signed Wednesday with CSKA Moscow on a two-year contract, Igor Eronko of Sports.ru reports. After a productive 2013-14 campaign with the Senators' AHL affiliate in Birmingham, Da Costa bolted for the KHL last summer. He immediately made his mark in Russia, tallying 30 goals and 32 assists in 46 games to finish second in the league in scoring. Still only 25 years old, Da Costa could make his way back to North America once his commitment to CSKA expires.

Stephane Da Costa may head to the KHL, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. He may head overseas because Ottawa reportedly isn't prepared to give him a one-way contract. He's set to become a restricted free agent in July. Da Costa spent most of the 2013-14 campaign in the minors with Binghamton, where he tallied 18 goals and 58 points in 56 matches.

Stephane Da Costa centered Ottawa's top line at the start of Wednesday's contest against Los Angeles. He was filling for Jason Spezza, who sat out the game with a nagging groin problem. Coach Paul MacLean mixed up his line combinations throughout the night though and only his second unit (Clarke MacArthur-Kyle Turris-Cory Conacher) remained intact.

Stephane Da Costa is glad to be starting out the season with Ottawa, but he doesn't plan to be complacent. "I'm definitely excited, but I'm not relieved yet," he said. "I'm on a two-way contract and I could go down tomorrow or in two months or in two weeks, so I've got to try my best to stay here all year." He practiced between Zack Smith and Chris Neil on Tuesday, but he isn't guaranteed to play in Friday's regular-season opener at Buffalo.
