While the 25-year-old blueliner won't offer much in the way of offensive upside, he does have value in formats that utilize hits and blocks, as he has racked up 204 and 82, respectively, this season.

Beniot's 184 hits on the season have come in only 51 games, and as long as he stays out of the press box, he should reach 200 for the second straight campaign.

Benoit may be a healthy scratch Friday against Columbus.

Benoit may be the odd man out with Mark Giordano (finger) returning to the lineup Friday. He hasn't put up any points in 18 games, but he has handled himself well in third-pairing minutes. Overall, Benoit has 52 hits, 32 blocked shots and 11 shots in those 18 games.
