Monahan (undisclosed) is in the projected lineup for Wednesday's game against the Bruins, Kristen Anderson of The Calgary Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monahan missed practice Monday due to an undisclosed issue, but he was never in serious danger of missing Wednesday's contest. The 24-year-old pivot will skate in his usual role centering the Flames' first line and top power-play unit against Boston.

Monahan (undisclosed) missed practice Monday, Derek Wills of Sportsnet 960 reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monahan blocked a shot from Colin Wilson on Saturday, which may be the reason why he missed practice. However, the Flames don't play again until Wednesday, so he has time to get healthy. This could have been a precautionary measure.

Monahan registered two goals -- including a power-play tally -- in Tuesday night's 3-0 road win over the Predators.
EDGE Analysis
Calgary's top-line center looks poised to enjoy a banner season after registering a career-high 64 points (31 goals, 33 assists) over 74 games in 2017-18. One of the league's clutch performers, Monahan dialed in a whopping 11 game-winning goals to rank third in said category. He'll look to stay scorching hot versus the Blues in St. Louis on Thursday.

Monahan scored the Flames' only goal in Wednesday's 3-1 exhibition loss to the Bruins.
EDGE Analysis
Playing in the second of two preseason games in China, Monahan put the puck behind Tuukka Rask late in the second period immediately after stepping out of the penalty box. It's an encouraging start for the 23-year-old, whose 2017-18 campaign ended early due to wrist and sports hernia surgeries, and while the Flames seem to have a plan in place to limit his workload and ease him back into action, a big preseason showing from Monahan could get those plans tossed in the wastebasket.

Flames head coach Bill Peters said he would limit Monahan's face-offs to begin the season, Kristen Anderson of The Calgary Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monahan is coming off wrist surgery in April, and although he has said he believes he is 100%, Peters will be limiting how many face-offs the 23-year-old center will be taking. In Monahan's place will be new Flame Elias Lindholm who took the third-most face-offs with the Hurricanes last season. This change will only be a precaution in the beginning as Monahan won the most face-offs on the team last season. As soon as Peters feels Monahan is at 100%, he will be taking face-offs full-time one again.

Monahan (wrist) believes he's 100 percent healthy and recovered from offseason surgeries, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monahan underwent wrist, groin and two hernia surgeries in April, but his recovery from those numerous procedures has evidently gone swimmingly, as he's already declaring himself fully healthy one month ahead of training camp. The 23-year-old pivot, who racked up 31 goals and 64 points in 74 games last season, could offer fantasy owners fantastic value in the middle rounds of drafts this year.

Monahan underwent wrist, groin, and two hernia surgeries and expects to be at full health in three months time, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Amazingly, Monahan played through each of these injuries for what he estimates to be the final 35 games of the season before being shut down in late March and sitting out the final seven contests of the year. Maybe more amazingly, Monahan played in 34 games during this estimated span, scoring 12 goals and 28 points while playing nearly 19 minutes per contest. Monahan scored career highs in goals, assists, and points despite playing a career low of 74 games in 2017-18. That said, it will be interesting to see how reconstructive wrist surgery affects his game moving forward.

Monahan, who has been ruled out for the season, will soon undergo wrist surgery, through his hip has been troublesome as well, the Calgary Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Flames GM Brad Treliving confirmed the worst for Monahan's fantasy owners, adding "Sean has been battling through two injuries over the past month and it has reached a stage where it must be addressed." Hopefully the procedure goes well, as the perennial top-line, power-play extraordinaire seems to have established a floor in the mid-to-low 60s for points each season.

Monahan (undisclosed) has been shut down for the remainder of the 2017-18 campaign, Wes Gilbertson of the Calgary Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Monahan has reportedly been playing through two "significant" injures that have required regular injections over the past three weeks, and with the Flames all but eliminated from the playoff race, there's no reason for the 23-year-old pivot to continue to gut it out and risk further injury. One of Monahan's injuries will reportedly require surgery, but the Flames have yet to release any details regarding the specific nature of the 2013 first-round pick's maladies or what his upcoming procedure will entail. It's an unfortunate end to a fantastic season for Monahan in which he set career highs in goals (31), points (64), game-winning goals (11) and shots on goal (202). Monahan will undoubtedly be a player fantasy owners will want to target in drafts heading into the 2018-19 campaign.

Coach Glen Gulutzan relayed Friday that Monahan is dealing with multiple "significant injuries" and he will meet with medical staff later in the day to determine his status the rest of the way, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
Considering the Flames have realistically dropped from playoff contention, it sounds as though the team is considering sitting its star pivot the rest of the season to start the recovery process. Additional information on his availability should surface following the visit, providing more clarity on his situation moving forward.
