Henley was reassigned Friday to AHL San Antonio.

Despite recording his first NHL goal, Henley will not be extending his stay with the Avs. At 23 years old, the center has plenty of time to further develop his game and will get the chance to do so with the Rampage. If nothing else, the youngster has likely put himself onto a short list for a call-up should Colorado get bit by the injury bug again.

Henley scored a goal despite playing just 5:18 in his NHL debut Thursday, a 3-2 loss to Columbus.

EDGE Analysis

The 23-year-old scored just one goal in 19 AHL games before getting called up, so don't get too excited -- there's not much of an offensive track record here. The one major attribute Henley brings to the ice is his size -- at 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, he'll offer an imposing presence on the Avs' fourth line as long as he can stick around.

The Avalanche recalled Henley from AHL San Antonio on Wednesday.
