Sproul has signed a one-year contract with HC Kunlun Red Star of the KHL, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sproul played in 64 AHL games last campaign, notching 10 goals and 29 points over that span. The 26-year-old hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2017-18, and the fact that he's signed overseas doesn't bode well for his chances of getting another shot at the top level in the future.

Sproul averaged 16:22 of ice time in 2017-18, playing in 16 games and pitching in one goal and four assists.
EDGE Analysis
During the beginning of the season Sproul played largely with AHL Hartford, impressing by posting 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) in 44 games before getting the permanent recall March 13. Sproul's production in the minors and five NHL points show he can contribute offensively, but he was handed a high 63 percent offensive zone start rate, and went minus-six as well showing a potential need to improve defensively. The 25-year-old is set to be a free agent, so he could wind up somewhere other than Broadway in 2018-19.

Sproul recorded a helper for the second consecutive contest in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Flyers.
EDGE Analysis
Sproul now has four assists in eight NHL appearances this season. The Red Wings' second-rounder from the 2011 NHL Entry Draft has flashed some offensive skills from the blue line, but earning consistent playing time at the highest level has been a problem for the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Sproul.

Sproul was added from AHL Hartford on Tuesday, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sproul could draw into the lineup for Wednesday's matchup against the Penguins, depending on the results of Anthony DeAngelo's (lower body) MRI on Tuesday. Even if that is the case for the 25-year-old blueliner, he doesn't provide a ton of upside from a fantasy standpoint. Sproul averaged just 14:48 of ice time per game in his four NHL appearances earlier this season.

Sproul was reassiend to AHL Hartford on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Sproul drew into four straight contests for the Rangers and notched an assist in each of the last two, but it wasn't enough to keep him around after the team swapped blueliners (Nick Holden to Boston for Rob O'Gara) and picked up a third-round selection for the 2018 NHL draft. However, the same number of blueliners remain on the active roster heading into the final game of the road trip. This could signify that one the three injured defensemen -- Ryan McDonagh (upper body), Steve Kampfer (hand) and Kevin Shattenkirk (knee) is nearing a return to the ice. Kampfer may be the most likely candidate of the three, but none is guaranteed to retake the ice when the Rangers return home Friday to face the Wild.

Sproul was recalled from AHL Hartford on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old's promotion comes after fellow blueliner Steven Kampfer was ruled out for 4-to-6 weeks due to a fractured hand. Much like Kampfer, Sproul is a right-shooting, puck-moving defenseman, and has tallied 10 goals and 22 points in 41 minor-league contests this season. New York is now carrying just six healthy defenders, so Sproul can be expected to step into the lineup for Tuesday's road tilt against Minnesota.

Sproul was traded from the Red Wings to the Rangers in exchange for forward Matt Puempel on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Wings had Sproul down in AHL Grand Rapids to prove his health following a knee injury that dates back to March, but he didn't get a chance to make his season debut with the parent club before this swap for Puempel. Both players involved in this deal were waived ahead of this season, but Detroit is trying to clear up cap space to accommodate the return of burgeoning forward Andreas Athanasiou, who ended his contract holdout Friday and inked a one-year, $1.3875 million deal.

Sproul (knee) has rejoined AHL Grand Rapids, though he's hoping for an abbreviated stay in the minors, MLive.com reports. "My goal is to be back with the Wings as quickly as possible," said the young defenseman. "Obviously, this was a great start here and I look forward to keep pushing here to make it back up there."
EDGE Analysis
The Ontario native contributed a goal in the Griffin's 5-2 home win over the Manitoba on Friday, which obviously won't hurt his chances of getting an expedited return to the NHL. Detroit could use him, too, as Niklas Kronwall (groin) is perpetually injured.

Sproul was waived by Detroit on Monday, Rick Ralph of TSN 1290 Winnipeg reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sproul was still recovering from an ACL tear when training camp opened Sep. 14 and he wasn't able to play a preseason game until Sep. 24. This lack of preparation for the campaign certainly hampered Sproul's chances of cracking the Wings' roster, though he was facing an uphill battle all along. If the defender clears waivers he'll likely be sent to AHL Grand Rapids, where he'll be a top option for recall as the season progresses.

Sproul (knee) will make his preseason debut Monday against Pittsburgh, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 2011 second-round pick has been out with an ACL tear in his left knee and there was uncertainty regarding whether or not he would be able to return in time for the beginning of the season. With Sproul's appearance in Monday's game, it seems to put these worries to rest and he will begin competing for an NHL job.
