Ryan Spooner currently leads AHL Providence in scoring with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in 13 games. "His progression with one of the things we worried about - his play away from the puck - has been very good," coach Bruce Cassidy said. "We're trying to get him to compete a little harder and I think we're seeing that. Offensively, he's making stuff happen. He's really dynamic on most nights. His power play's been good. He's probably a little ahead of where I thought he'd be maybe three weeks ago." If his all-around game continues to improve then he could be ready for NHL duty sooner rather than later.

Top Bruins forward prospects Ryan Spooner and Jared Knight have their sights set on a fast-track to the NHL. Both players, products of the OHL, were selected in the 2010 draft and have become close friends ever since through Bruins development camps and battles in the OHL. Now, the two begin their first season in the AHL, though they're saddened by the fact they haven't gotten to participate in NHL training camp. "It was disappointing for me. I was kind of upset about it," said Spooner. "But there's not much you can do. You have to focus on the task at hand and right now that's being here. If it does come back, I'll be ready and if not then I'm going to work harder here."

Bruins' prospect Ryan Spooner has been drawing comparisons to David Krejci while playing for Providence in the AHL. The Bruins selected Spooner with the 45th overall pick in the 2010 NHL entry draft and is ready to start his professional career after four years of junior hockey in the OHL. Spooner has showed off speed and puck-handling skills in Providence and has even drawn comparisons to David Krejci. "Playing summer hockey you just float around a little bit, but its eye-opening when you're going into the corner and taking contact again for the first time in a while. It felt good to be playing games again," said Spooner. "It's motivation when you know you're being watched [by the front office and coaching staff]. You want to play well, and the biggest thing for me is to show consistency. "Everybody could get sidetracked by [the lockout] if they wanted to, but I'm not dwelling on any of the negatives. I'm just going to take the chance I've been given down here and I'll run with it."

Ryan Spooner concluded Boston's development camp strong with a pair of goals in the final scrimmage. The second-round pick of the Bruins in 2010 is ready to start his professional career after four years of junior hockey in the OHL. "You can see he's maturing as a young man, just physically," said GM Peter Chiarelli. "And his tests have shown that also. You've seen him play, he's very skilled through the neutral zone, a high-speed and highly skilled kid." He could a player to watch at training camp, but it's likely that he starts the 2012-13 season in the minors.

Ryan Spooner is turning heads at Boston's training camp. "Obviously this guy's got more confidence this year than he did last year," said coach Claude Julien. "Last year, we were pretty impressed with his first camp. He's starting to feel comfortable at this level. He definitely has great hockey sense. He seems to find the areas of where to put the puck. He makes good decisions pretty well all over the ice." Spooner will either start the 2011-12 season in the NHL, or he will be returned to his junior team in Kingston of the OHL.
