Ryan O'Byrne has signed a two-year contract with KHL club HC LEV Praha. He recorded 60 penalty minutes and 104 hits in 42 games with Colorado and Toronto last season. O'Byrne wouldn't have been any help in standard leagues this year, so his departure won't impact you on draft day.

Ryan O'Byrne scored a goal in his Maple Leafs debut Monday night. He jumped into the rush and scored a nice feed from across the ice by Nazem Kadri. O'Byrne also posted two shots, three hits, three blocks and a plus-2 rating to fill a pretty solid night on the stat sheet.

Colorado has dealt Ryan O'Byrne to Toronto for a fourth-round draft pick. O'Byrne plays an aggressive style that coach Randy Carlyle appreciates, so he could be a good fit in with the Maple Leafs as a depth blueliner. In 34 games this season, he has posted 54 penalty minutes, 76 hits and 49 blocked shots.

Ryan O'Byrne will be a healthy scratch for Thursday's road match-up against Minnesota. Coach Joe Sacco gave his reasoning behind the decision by saying, "He wasn't up to his best (against Edmonton). He struggled. He gives you everything he has, but sometimes you have to make a change that you think gives you the best chance to win and his play has dropped. It wasn't just the one game, it's been a few games. He's taken some bad penalties too at times. I talked to him about that and he knows that. When he gets back in the lineup, I expect him to be better for it." Greg Zanon will replace him in the lineup.

Ryan O'Byrne recorded a season-high 23:56 minutes of playing time on Wednesday. The Colorado Avalanche have been leaning on O'Byrne more while Erik Johnson and Ryan Wilson are sidelined. "You know my game. It's not flashy. I want to be hard to play against," O'Byrne said. "Give the puck to the forwards, block shots, kill penalties. Whatever the coaches need from me I do, whether I'm playing 11 minutes or 21 minutes. We just got to start winning some games here." Even with the added responsibility, O'Byrne only has fantasy value in leagues that count hits and blocked shots.

Ryan O'Byrne has joined the ECHL Florida Everblades. O'Byrne has been serving on the British Columbia Hockey League's Victoria Grizzlies' coaching staff during the lockout. "Helping coach the Grizzlies was a phenomenal learning experience to see how [head coach and GM] Bill Bestwick and [Grizz assistant coach] Craig Didmon handled things," said O'Byrne. "But at some point, you have to play some hockey. You can work-out as much as you want but nothing is like being in an actual game environment ... and I haven't played since April 7." O'Byrne signed with Florida in part because he wanted to stay in North America to help the NHLPA with the ongoing CBA negotiations.

Colorado Avalanche defenceman Ryan O'Byrne has joined the British Columbia Hockey League's Victoria Grizzlies coaching staff as an assistant. The Victoria native is a member of the Grizzlies Alumni Advisory Board and will be asked to help mentor kids during the duration of the lockout. O'Byrne has very limited fantasy value.
