Fabbri potted his first career NHL goal, the game-winning score in his NHL debut Thursday against Edmonton.
EDGE Analysis
The 19-year-old rookie was selected in the first round of the 2014 NHL draft and cracked the Blues' roster with an impressive preseason. On Thursday he played the hero, taking a backhanded feed from Jori Lehtera at 9:29 of the third period, burying the puck past Cam Talbot from the slot. Fabbri only played 10:28, but if he continues to produce, that number will likely elevate Saturday against Minnesota.

EDGE Analysis
Fabbri is a sleeper to crack the Blues roster out of training camp. He missed significant time last season due to a high-ankle sprain, but he is completely healthy to begin the 2015-16 season. Fabbri was recently ranked as the #20 prospect in the NHL by RotoWire.

Fabbri, the Blues' first-round draft pick this past June, very narrowly missed out on making the parent club in his first training camp. An upper-body injury kept him out of the preseason finale and might have been the difference in preventing him from making the squad, but the 18-year-old's dazzling offensive display in camp might hint at future stardom nonetheless. With another stellar season at the junior level, Fabbri could come away with a permanent roster spot with the Blues in 2015-16.

Fabbri (upper-body soreness) will not play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Wild, NHL.com's Lou Korac reports.
With Fabbri's preseason now over, it appears likely the Blues will send him back to juniors, even though he performed better than anticipated against advanced competition during training camp. The 18-year-old looks like he could soon be the next in line to join a Blues roster ripe with young talent at forward.

Fabbri suffered an upper-body injury in Wednesday's preseason game and didn't return.
It's an unfortunate break for Fabbri, who is in competition for one of the final roster spots. The 21st pick in the 2014 draft has been impressive throughout camp and the preseason, but the most recent injury could keep him off the final roster. Coach Ken Hitchcock said the team will not make cuts until after Saturday's contest, so if Fabbri can give it another go in that game, he may still have a chance.

Fabbri, who skated just over 13 minutes of ice time in Tuesday's win over Carolina, appears to be among the last players competing for a roster spot, according to Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Fabbri continues to get praise from coach Ken Hitchcock for his play. Whether and how he slots into the Blues' roster will be determined in the next couple of days.
