Despite Rick Nash's injury scare, New York Rangers GM Glen Sather isn't overly worried about the big winger's health.
"It's no different playing over there than playing here because here you can get hurt playing in the American League (AHL) or you can get hurt playing junior," Sather said. "I don't think it's a huge risk for anyone to play. [Nash] knew where he was going, he'd been there before [during the 2004-05 lockout] so I'm sure he knows their medical people are good. I'm sure they're giving him all the treatment that he needs." Nash sustained a bruised bone to his shoulder last week while playing for HC Davos in the Swiss League, but there was no structural damage.

Rick Nash recorded a hat trick in his first game with HC Davos in Switzerland.
We have to take this with a grain of salt as playing for Switzerland is obviously not the same as playing in the NHL. Still, this is noteworthy when you factor in that he should only be starting training camp around now under normal circumstances.

Rick Nash is reportedly going to play with HC Davos in Switzerland, according to multiple sources.
Nash and his agent denied claims that he would suit up for Davos in the event of a lockout back in August. He wants to stay sharp and ready for when the NHL season begins, so playing overseas is the logical move.

Rick Nash is looking forward to being a part of a franchise that has a lot of hockey history.
"Coming to an Original Six, it's unbelievable," Nash said. "You look at some of the pictures around the training facility. Walking in MSG, there's so much history here. For me, growing up in Toronto, hockey was such a huge deal to the city. It feels great to come here where hockey huge and people are really passionate about it." When it came to the Columbus Blue Jackets, he was writing the first pages in the team's history book. Nash is the young Blue Jackets' franchise leader in games, goals, points, and a number of other categories.

New York coach John Tortorella feels that Rick Nash will fit in well with the Rangers based on what he has heard.
"The thing I like about Nash -- and I haven't even met him face to face -- in one conversation with him, he's all business," Tortorella said. "Everyone I have talked to about him says he's not a real high-maintenance guy -- [he] wants to play hard, wants to play every day and practice every day. I think we have him at a really good time in his career, and I think he's going to fit in with us tremendously." The Blueshirts bench boss went on to say that he believes Nash "has the hunger to get there and become that go-to guy in the playoffs" at this stage. Nash should help bolster the team's offensive attack in 2012-13 and New York is among the early favorites to win the Eastern Conference again.
