Injury: The Stars placed Rich Peverley on long-term IR over the wee... dailyfaceoff.com Wed 10/15/14 2:56 PM

The move gives the Stars some cap and roster flexibility until Peverley is ready to get back to hockey. There is still no timetable for Peverley's return after he collapsed on the bench last season due to a heart condition.

THE GOALIE EDGE: 4/9/2014 primepucks.com Wed 4/9/14 1:37 PM

ALL GOALIES ARE CONFIRMED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED AT TIME OF PRINT The season is winding down as there are just a handful of days left. Peter Budaj gets the start in net for the Montreal Canadiens as they face off against Corey Crawford and the Chicago Blackhawks. Carey Price gets the night off but will start the last 2 games of the regular season for the Habs.  Montreal is trying to lock down home ice advantage in their first round matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning while Chicago looks to be ensconced in 5th place overall. The hawks are pretty banged up but have shown the same grit without their superstars in the lineup.  Crawford on home ice against the backup Budaj.... Jonas Gustavsson gets the nod in the back end of back-to-back nights and will be facing the Pittsburgh Penguins who will go with Marc-Andre Fleury in net. The Red Wings have won 5 of their last 6 and need just 1 point to clinch a playoff position.  Pittsburgh, like the Blackhawks, is pretty banged up and is just 5-5-0 in last 10 games.  Detroit is looking like a tough playoff opponent with the way they have been playing lately.  Momentum means a lot; go with the Wings.... The surging Columbus Blue Jackets will play their makeup game against Dallas tonight. If you remember, Rich Peverley collapsed on the bench during the first period of a 1-0 game between these two clubs and the game was postponed.  They will play the game tonight with a full 60 minutes, but with the Blue Jackets already winning 1-0, allowing that goal to still count but the league deciding to play a full game.  Sergei Bobrovsky (LIKELY) has been brilliant during the stretch and so has Kari Lehtonen (LIKELY). Columbus has won 3 of their last 4 and hope to get closer to clinching a playoff spot but have 3 road games remaining. The Stars are in the same situation and don't want their entire season to come down to Sunday's match against Phoenix, the club they are battling for the last playoff spot in the West.... Los Angeles heads to Calgary to take on the red-hot Karri Ramo and the Flames, who are coming off a 1-0 blanking of the New Jersey Devils. Jonathan Quick (LIKELY) will probably get the start tonight and Martin Jones the start tomorrow against the Edmonton Oilers. With three wins in a row and only 2 goals against during that stretch, it may be a good thing for the West that Calgary did not qualify for the playoffs this season.  When you're hot, you're hot! And when you're hot and your team name is the Flames, ...

Obviously great news to hear that Peverley is doing well after a scary incident on Monday. His NHL future is in question after a such an event. If you remember a similar situation happened in Detroit years ago with Jiri Fischer. Fischer was forced to retire following the episode, hopefully for Peverley that is not the case.

DAILY PRIME- MARCH 11, 2014: BOBBY LOU, WHERE ARE YOU? primepucks.com Tue 3/11/14 9:08 AM

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dallas Star Forward Rich Peverley who collapsed during the first period of last night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Peverley had suffered from an irregular heartbeat recently and sat out a game last week but no indications that this is related.  Peverley is reported to be stable and during fine.  We pray for a speedy and complete recovery. One of the biggest games of the night pitted the Maple Leafs against the Ducks. Phil Kessel feasted on the Ducks-served-cold factoring in all three Toronto goals in their 3-1 victory, including the game-winner. In two games against the stumbling ducks, Kessel has 4 goals and 2 assists.  Kessel has feasted like a king!  Kessel should always be in your lineup regardless of the amount of games in the period as he is truly a game-changer.  Kessel is 2nd behind Sidney Crosby in League scoring but being 4 points behind will be tough to catch. Kudos for those who selected Kessel early in their drafts this season (wink, wink).  Not to be outdone, Jonathan Bernier turned aside 43 of 44 shots on goal for his 25th win on the season. Bernier has entrenched himself as the bona-fide number 1 goaltender in TO.  Perhaps the trading away of first, Cory Schneider at the 2013 Entry Draft, and then Roberto Luongo at this year's trade deadline were not the most prudent moves the Vancouver Canucks have ever made as Eddie Lack and the team has sort of imploded lately. Without the pressure of carrying the team as a Number 1, Lack impressed with solid performances in  the early stages fo the season while spelling Luongo every few games.  Lack has started the last 7 games since the O-break for the Canucks, going 2-4-1, with some of those starts just before the trade.  Lack needs to find consistency, which is a common problem among rookie goaltenders.  A few nights ago he let in 6 in a loss to Dallas.  He followed that up with a 2-1 win, stopping 22 of 23 shots on goal against Calgary.  Last night, he seemed to be rolling along to a win over the NY Islanders as he headed into the 3rd period with a 3-0 lead. Too bad for Lack the vowel in his name isn't a U as the Islanders poured in 7 3rd period goals to wrest what was sure victory from the young net minder.  So, if you do not have any other goalie options, you will have to put up with the maddening inconsistencies that you will get the rest of the season from Mr. Lack.  The one thing you can take from this game was that the Isles gained momentum ...

Peverley underwent the heart procedure on September 13th and appears on track to only miss the first game of the season. We will have to wait and see which line his new team decides to use him on. He is a versatile player that is very useful to an NHL team, not so much your fantasy team.
