Bourque (undisclosed) will not travel to New Jersey for Wednesday's game against the Devils, per Blue Jackets head coach John Tortorella.
EDGE Analysis
The Jackets will face the Penguins on Friday, and that appears to be Bourque's next chance to lace up for a game. Despite being in the league for 10 years, Bourque hasn't used that experience to his advantage as he only has one point (an assist) in 15 games this season.

Bourque was absent from Monday's practice, Rob Mixer of NHL.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It isn't clear what kind of ailment held Bourque out of practice, but the team doesn't seem to be overly concerned about the 33-year-old veteran winger. It's quite possible Bourque was simply given a maintenance day, but his status is worth monitoring, as his 2014-15 season was cut short after he was forced to undergo back surgery in March.

Bourque (back) will miss the rest of the season after undergoing back surgery on Saturday, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. It's disappointing news for Bourque, as he had really started to turn it on of late, scoring three goals and putting 12 shots on net in the last two games he played. The Blue Jackets, who aren't in the running for the playoffs, have opted to shut down the 33-year-old winger to avoid any risk of further injury. Bourque will finish the season with a total of six goals and eight assists.

Bourque (upper body) will not play Friday against the Blackhawks. Bourque was limited to skating on his own during Friday's morning skate, so he'll be forced to sit out his second straight game. The injury has come at an unfortunate time for Bourque, as he had potted three goals and put 12 shots on net in the last two games he played. He could be back in action for Saturday's game against the Blackhawks, but a top-line role might not necessarily be waiting for him.

Bourque (upper body) is expected to travel with the Blue Jackets on the team's upcoming two-game road trip. That said, it remains unclear at this stage if Bourque is considered a candidate to play either Friday in Chicago, Saturday in St. Louis, or even in both contests.

Bourque (upper body) will not play Tuesday against the Ducks. Bourque -- who has notched three goals in his last two games -- is considered day-to-day as Friday's game against Chicago approaches.

Bourque buried his former team Saturday, potting a pair of goals -- including the game-winner in overtime -- in a 3-2 win over the Flames. Bourque stole the show at the Saddledome on Saturday afternoon, a place he called home for nearly four seasons. He now has four points -- all of which have been goals -- in eight games with Columbus, and 14 points overall in 51 contests this season.

Bourque bagged a goal on a team-high eight shot attempts during Thursday's win over the Canucks. Since arriving from AHL Springfield on Mar. 7, Bourque has suited up for all seven of the Blue Jackets' games. He only has two points to show for it, but he's at least been putting a decent number of shots on net, firing off 19 attempts during that span. Bourque skated on the top line next to Ryan Johansen on Thursday, and if that continues to hold over the next few games, that shot production may begin to translate into goals sooner or later.

Bourque was recalled from AHL Springfield on an emergency basis Saturday. The Blue Jackets assigned Bourque to the minors after acquiring him Monday in a deadline deal with the Ducks, but it won't take long for him to make his way to the parent club. His call-up likely signifies that at least one of the Blue Jackets' forwards got banged up in Friday's 3-2 win over the Devils. If that's indeed the case, look for Bourque to receive a look Saturday against the Avalanche.

Bourque, who was acquired by the Blue Jackets in Monday's trade that sent James Wisniewski to the Ducks, will report to AHL Springfield, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports. There was some thought that Bourque might get the opportunity to showcase himself with the Blue Jackets following his acquisition, but the parent club was apparently already satisfied with its current crop of forwards. It may take another injury to one of the Blue Jackets' wings in order for Bourque to receive the call to Columbus.
