Raitis Ivanans was signed by CAL on Friday January 18.

Raitis Ivanans has inked a two-year contract with Dinamo Riga of the KHL. Ivanans skated in just two games over the past two seasons because of a concussion that he suffered in the firs contest of the regular season in 2010-11. He managed to return this past campaign though and appeared in one game with Calgary and 27 with the team's AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.

Raitis Ivanans was called up from the minors on Saturday January 28.

The Calgary Flames have sent Raitis Ivanans to the minors. Ivanans was recalled earlier in the week and was thrilled to be back in the NHL but the thrill only lasted three days. There is no need to use a waiver claim on the enforcer now.

You realize how much you take it for granted when you're here," Ivanans said. "And then when you're down and come back, you just want to grab it and never let it go." Just to confirm, the Calgary Flames have promoted Raitis Ivanans. Ivanans cleared re-entry waivers Wednesday afternoon, so it was assumed that he'd be called up. He has three points and 15 penalty minutes in 13 AHL games this season.

Raitis Ivanans has successfully cleared re-entry waivers. Ivanans can average about two penalty minutes per game, but he doesn't do much else from a fantasy perspective. If Ivanans gets regular minutes with the Flames, it will probably be as a fourth liner.
